Arsenal FC vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction & Analysis

Arsenal suffered a setback to their hopes this season as they were dumped out of the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon.

Although their main focus has always been winning the Premier League, Mikel Arteta will be disappointed at not having another chance of winning silverware this season.

As such, they must now ensure they keep up their excellent run of domestic form by beating Palace. As Manchester City are playing in the FA Cup this weekend, the Gunners can go eight points clear.

Crystal Palace, although sitting in 12th place, must be concerned with how their form has taken them to within just three points of the relegation places.

Now, without a permanent manager after the sacking of Patrick Vieira, they will need to give their all and try and get something against all odds from their game with Arsenal.

Reasons to be cheerful:

     Could equal last season’s total of 69 points with victory with 10 games remaining

     Could win their ninth London derby of the London – a record

Reasons to be fearful:

     Haven’t beaten Palace at home in each of their last four seasons

     Midweek beating in Europe could derail their momentum

Momentum is a precious thing in football – those teams that have it can go on outstanding winning runs, while those that don’t can’t seem to catch a break.

Arsenal will hope that their loss to Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League doesn’t derail their Premier League form, as we enter the final stages of the season.

The Gunners must also hope that William Saliba’s injury, sustained in that game, isn’t too serious. To lose him would be a huge blow entering the final 11 games.

Arteta’s men don’t have a great record against Crystal Palace, it must be said. However, games in previous seasons arguably don’t count here, as Arsenal are a much better side whereas Palace have gone backwards.

Trossard has injected great energy into the team since his January arrival. He has a goal and five assists in his nine appearances since joining the club.

     Palace have now gone 11 matches without victory – their longest since 2016

     They haven’t scored in four consecutive matches

Crystal Palace’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton was enough for the upper levels of management to sack Patrick Vieira, despite the club sitting in 12th place and having had a tough run of fixtures.

The Eagles haven’t conceded a great number of goals recently – they haven’t let in more than one goal in any of their last six matches. Unfortunately, they haven’t managed to score very many either.

Their next run of fixtures is kinder, facing the teams that are below them in the league. Whoever replaces Vieira will have his work cut out, but will feel confident of picking up enough points to see Palace safe.

They have a decent record against Arsenal at the Emirates in recent seasons, although these are very different circumstances for both clubs.
