Manchester United come into this after suffering from one of the biggest shocks of the season in midweek against a rejuvenated Sheffield United side, who remain bottom of the table despite the famous win.

United, who sat on top of the Premier League for the last two weeks, have been knocked down to 2nd by a formidable looking Manchester City side, who also have a game in hand.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will expect a swift return to form here, unwilling to undo several months of good work to propel United up the table in the first place.

Arsenal, aside from their defeat in the FA Cup the other week, have been close to flawless of late. After beating Chelsea 3-1 just before the turn of the year, The Gunners have now secured 22 points from the last 24 available to them.

This should be a fascinating encounter.

Form Guide (all comps): WDWLW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Beat United 1-0 earlier in the season

New loan signing Martin Odegaard could play a role

Reasons to be fearful:

Were defeated by Fulham earlier in the season

All but one of their wins were against teams in the bottom half

Arsenal can potentially close the gap on the top four to just four points this weekend with a win over Manchester United, but must work hard to continue their great run of form.

It is a revival based on the emergence of several youth players who have come into the side to great success. Saka and Smith Rowe, in particular, are now among the first names on the team sheet.

On the flip side, apart from Chelsea, none of the sides they have beaten on this run have been in the top half of the table, with a kinder run of fixtures enabling them to find some form. Now they’ll be hoping they can transfer that to this game.

Arsenal are undefeated in their last four meetings with United, and will be a tough nut to crack here.

Star Man – Bukayo Saka

Notching another goal and assist against Southampton, the youngest is Arsenal’s best player right now.

Form Guide (all comps): WDWWL

Reasons to be cheerful:

The only side not to lose away from home this season

10 wins from 13 matches shows great form despite defeat

Reasons to be fearful:

Will need to improve hugely on their midweek performance against Sheffield United

Bruno Fernandes is enduring his worst form since joining United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted that there would be no need to panic after his side’s defeat to bottom of the table Sheffield United in midweek, though he will know how much they need to improve here.

Their defeat to Arsenal earlier in the season kickstarting this tremendous run of form, including 10 wins from their last 13 matches, but it is here that may define the next phase of the season.

Should they lose, it’ll be a terribly hard way back to the top, to overtake City. Should they win, confidence will be regained.

With a fully fit squad to choose from, Solskjaer’s biggest problem will be selecting the right players to get the job done.

Star Man – Edinson Cavani

United’s number nine has been electric this season and, with the right service, can create chances behind Arsenal’s back line.

     Should be an entertaining game

Arsenal could edge possession, though United won’t panic

Both sides could take the lead at some point

Often, games between these two sides are topsy-turvy affairs, with one side taking the lead before the other comes back and goes ahead themselves.

Both teams have quality attacking players and are scoring plenty of goals right now. United arguably have the better defence, plus the best away record in the league this season.

It’ll be close, but United could just shade it.
