Mohun Bagan entered the Kolkata derby expecting three points but had to settle for a draw, and perhaps even count themselves fortunate after Jason Cummings rescued them late on. 

The Mariners dominated possession (59%) and fired 22 shots, yet East Bengal created the clearer opportunities and looked more dangerous in key moments. Jamie Maclaren nearly snatched a winner late in the game, only to be denied by an excellent save.

The draw also came at a cost, with Cummings picking up an injury and now doubtful for Thursday, while Alberto Rodriguez will miss out after receiving his fourth yellow card of the campaign.

Sporting Delhi’s goalless draw against Inter Kashi may not have carried major stakes, but it was far from uneventful. 

Much of the game was played in Delhi’s half as Kashi dominated proceedings with 18 shots and an xG of 2.18, only to be denied repeatedly by Nora Fernandes, who produced a superb six-save performance.

Still, the result extended Delhi’s winless run to five matches, with the side managing just two victories all season and remaining rooted near the bottom of the table, chilling with three other teams. 

While they could still play spoilsport in the title race, their last trip to Kolkata against Mohun Bagan’s rivals ended in a heavy 4-1 defeat.

Mohun Bagan are expected to attack from the first whistle, which means Delhi may once again have to rely heavily on Nora Fernandes. The goalkeeper has been one of the league’s standout performers, boasting a 78.1% save rate — the second-best in the competition — and averaging 3.2 saves per 90 minutes.
