In their final group match, Bangladesh face Uzbekistan in Perth on Monday at 2:30 PM IST. Both teams have lost their opening two games, leaving this as a must-win encounter if they are to keep their slim hopes alive of reaching the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed teams. With everything on the line, expect both sides to push for victory, setting up an intriguing contest.

Current Standings: Goal difference is the only thing separating the bottom of Group B, keeping Uzbekistan in 3rd and Bangladesh in 4th as both hunt for their first points.

Head-to-head Record: The teams have yet to face each other in an AFC Asian Cup match.

Bangladesh Preview

After a resilient showing against China in their opener, where they lost narrowly, Bangladesh endured a heavy 5–0 defeat to North Korea in their second match. The side held firm for most of the first half, but two goals in added time before the break shifted the momentum completely.

The scoreline could have been even harsher, with three North Korean goals ruled out by VAR. Unlike their first match, Bangladesh failed to register a single shot, making it a difficult result to recover from mentally ahead of their decisive clash with Uzbekistan.

Goalkeeper Mile Akter once again stood out, producing five important saves in the last match. She has now made 13 saves in two games, repeatedly keeping Bangladesh in the contest. However, while her efforts have been vital, the attackers must step up if the team hopes to get a result.

Bangladesh Probable Starting Lineup - Mile Akter (GK); Afeida Khandaker, Kohati Kisku, Shamsunnahar Sr., Nabiran Khatun, Maria Manda, Monika Chakma, Ritu Porna Chakma, Tohura Khatun, Airin Khatun, Shamsunnahar Jr.

Uzbekistan Preview

Uzbekistan, another lower-ranked side in the competition, have also struggled, suffering their second straight 3–0 defeat of the campaign. In both matches they conceded in the first half and managed just one shot attempt, highlighting their attacking difficulties.

This time, however, two of the goals came from penalties. One positive was the return of first-choice goalkeeper Maftun Jonimkulova, who started the match after recovering from the injury that forced her off in the previous game.

Goalkeeper Maftun Jonimkulova was the standout performer against China, producing eight saves to keep Uzbekistan in the contest. She will once again be crucial in Monday’s match. However, if Uzbekistan hope to progress, they must find goals—and much will depend on their all-time top scorer Lyudmila Karachik to deliver in attack.

Uzbekistan Probable Starting Lineup - Maftuna Jonimqulova (GK); Nafisa Nabikulova, Maftuna Shoyimova, Madina Khikmatova, Leyla Oraniyazova, Umida Zoirova, Ilvina Ablyakimova, Asalkhon Aminjanova, Lyudmila Karachik, Nilufar Kudratova, Diyorakhon Khabibullaeva.

While both teams are still searching for their first points in the tournament, Uzbekistan appear to have a slight edge heading into this match. They are the higher-ranked side and possess a few experienced players capable of making the difference in attack, while also looking relatively more organized defensively. Taking these factors into account, Uzbekistan go into the contest as the slight favourites.

Uzbekistan to win (1-0)
