Brighton and Fulham could give us one of the most mouth-watering clashes of this round of fixtures, with the clubs currently sitting in 6th and 7th in the league.

Both clubs have achieved remarkable results this season and fully deserve their current league standing. They have kept both Liverpool and Chelsea beneath them this season, up until now at least.

Brighton have been one of the most improved clubs in the league and have arguably gone onto greater things since the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi. They can move to within a point of Tottenham in 5th here.

Fulham have also been excellent since returning to the Premier League in the summer. Many would have though them relegation candidates but they have proven to be one of the hardest-working teams around.

This should be a cracking encounter.

     Three wins and no defeats from their last five

     Solly March has been in excellent form recently

Reasons to be fearful:

     Haven’t beaten Fulham in five Premier League meetings

     Don’t have a main goalscorer unlike Fulham

Brighton came away from their derby clash against Crystal Palace disappointed at earning only a point.

It shows their growth over the past season or so that they can go away to most teams in the Premier League and expect a positive result. Indeed, they have been better away from home so far this campaign.

Now at home, they will hope to set down another marker to a team neck and neck with them in the table.

They have won their last three at home in all competitions, beating the likes of Liverpool twice and Bournemouth, conceding just one goal during that period.

Unlike Fulham, they don’t have a typical goalscorer in their team but that hasn’t hampered them so far.

March has scored five goals in his last seven appearances for Brighton, showing that you don’t need to be a big striker to get goals.

To look at how well Brighton have done this season, the teams they have beaten and the position they hold, and then to consider that Fulham are level on points with them shows how remarkable their own campaign has been.

The Cottagers owe much of their success to the goalscoring qualities of Aleksandar Mitrovic but he has been brilliantly supported by others behind him. Andreas Pereira and Willian have been excellent purchases.

It hasn’t been luck that has taken Fulham this far – wins over Chelsea and others have demonstrated their quality in bucketloads. 

Now, they face a team that does things slightly differently but just as successfully. They have a good record against Brighton too, winning two and drawing three of their five previous Premier League meetings.

A win here would take them above their rivals into 6th place.
