Brighton & Hove Albion will play host to Ipswich Town in the second round matchup at the Falmer Stadium on Saturday. The home team, Brighton & Hove Albion have been on an unbeaten run winning all the three league games, while their opponents Ipswich have been winless in the season so far.

Brighton’s winning start was disrupted in the last match due to a 1-1 draw in the away match against Arsenal. During the match, João Pedro scored the equaliser in the 58th minute after Kai Havertz gave the 38th minute lead to the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town have lost two of their last three games and are struggling to return to the top flight. They secured their first point of the season in their previous match with the help of Liam Delap whose first-half strike helped in keeping Fulham to a 1-1 draw at home.

Current Standings - Brighton & Hove Albion are currently in third place with two wins, one draw, and a +4 goal differential, totaling 7 points. Ipswich Town, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the table in 17th position with one draw, two losses, and a -5 goal differential, accumulating just one point.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The Seagulls were unbeaten in three of their four matches across all competitions with two clean sheets and have had a strong start to the season. Since they have scored six goals in these three matches, they are expected to maintain the attacking style.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu, the newly signed player, is expected to make his debut in the match after training with his teammates. James Milner, a key player, is suffering from a hamstring injury which he had to endure against Arsenal last month and will be absent. Mats Wieffer and Brajan Gruda are facing a late fitness test.

Joao Pedro and Julio Encisco were off to South America on the qualifying duty for the World Cup and were not part of Thursday’s training session. Both of them are expected to feature in Saturday's game.

The Seagulls have only lost four of the previous 21 matches played at home across all competitions over the last year, they can be optimistic about Saturday’s match. Moreover, they have only lost one out of the last 13 Premier League matches at the Amex against newly-promoted teams. The single defeat was when they lost 1-0 to Fulham in February 2023.

Brighton & Hove Albion Starting Lineup -  B Verbruggen (GK); J Veltman, J Van Hecke, L Dunk, J Hinshelwood (Defenders); J Milner, C Baleba, Y Minteh, J Pedro, K Mitoma (Mid Fielders); D Welbeck (Forward).

Ipswich Town FC Preview

Ipswich Town are yet to win a match in the season after earning a point in the last match. The Tractor Boys could not score in the opening match against Liverpool but they have been scoring one goal each in the last two games. In their last three matches against Brighton, they have been unbeaten as well as kept two clean sheets.

Manager Kieran McKenna will have a fully fit squad for the trip to East Sussex as West Burns, Omari Hutchinson and George Hirst have resumed training. In the previous match, summer signing Liam Delap scored a spectacular long-range opener inside the opening 15 minutes. However, the score was equalised by the Cottagers by Adama Traore in the 32nd-minute due to which Ipswich had to settle for a share of the spoils at Portman Road.

On one hand, deadline-day signing Jack Clarke will be making full debut for Ipswich on either flank, whereas on the other, newly recruited Sammie Szmodics, Chiedozie Ogbene and Delap will be hoping to maintain their places in the first XI.

Furthermore, Manager McKenna has confirmed that the previously injured players Wes Burns, Nathan Broadhead (both hamstring), George Hirst (knee) and Harry Clarke (Achilles) have resumed their training. This will give The Tractor Boys a quadruple injury boost.

Ipswich Town Starting Lineup -  A Muric (GK), L Davis, J Greaves, L Woolfenden, A Tuanzebe (Defenders); K Phillips, S Morsy, O Hutchinson, S Szmodics, C Ogbene (Mid Fielders);  L Delap (Forward)

Both Brighton and Ipswich will try to give their best and capitalise on all the available opportunities. In spite of that, the Seagulls can be regarded as fan favourites and might have fewer problems outscoring their opponents even if they lack some of the first-team players due to fitness issues.

Comparatively, Ipswich Town haven't had an easy fixture list. They are yet to score a win in the Premier League. With seven goals conceded already, a tough afternoon can be expected for the Tractor Boys at the Amex on Saturday.
