Leicester aiming to secure consecutive wins against Bournemouth to rise out of bottom three
Leicester to win 2-0
Tournament: Premier League 2022-2023 | Venue: Bournemouth, Vitality Stadium
Bet NowWhat a difference a win can make for a club in trouble.
Although Leicester are still in the bottom three, securing their first win of the season has lifted a small amount of pressure off their shoulders.
It was a convincing win, too, seeing off Nottingham in a 4-0 win with some stylish performances from the likes of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
Another win here could potentially lift them out of the bottom three altogether, although Bournemouth will present a more difficult challenge than Forest.
The Cherries continue to cement their position in midtable following three draws and a victory under caretaker manager Gary O’Neil.
He will be in place once more for this game, while the club’s ownership situation continues to build pace.
They are a more solid team these days, and Leicester won’t find this an easy game to claim three points from.
Reasons to be cheerful:
The Cherries haven’t lost a home game to Leicester
Unbeaten in their last four games is a great turnaround
Reasons to be fearful:
Just one goal scored from their last two games
Club’s ownership talk isn’t helping things
Eagle-eyed fans have spotted Bournemouth’s potential buyers flying in from Las Vegas this week, perhaps hoping to thrash out a deal to acquire the club.
It would certainly help to secure the long-term future of Bournemouth, as well as settle things down surrounding the football side of things.
While the team is performing respectably right now, the longer they continue without a permanent manager, the more it’ll hurt them.
The Cherries must also improve going forward. While they’ve been much better at the back, they’ve scored just one from their last two games, which won’t be enough to see off a spirited Leicester side.
They have a good spirit themselves, of course, and they’ll be confident they can claim a positive result at home.
Star Man – Dominic Solanke
Bournemouth must create more chances for their forward players, like Solanke and Moore.
Reasons to be cheerful
Scored more goals in their last game than their other seven matches combined
Maddison’s form offers hope going forward
Reasons to be fearful
Poor record away to Bournemouth
Lost their last three away games
While Leicester’s victory has provided cause for optimism, there is still a long way to go to turn around their dreadful start to the season.
Brendan Rodgers is still under massive pressure at the helm, and rumours are constantly circulating regarding who could replace him if the owners decide to sack him.
It looks as though the players are behind him, however. Against Nottingham Forest, their forward players in particular connected in a way that they haven’t so far.
Daka, Barnes and in particular Maddison were all on top of their game, showing glimpses of their form from the past couple of seasons.
Can they perform in that way again?
Star Man – James Maddison
With two goals and an assist, it’s clear that Leicester rely heavily on Maddison. Will England come calling for a place in the World Cup? On this form, he must be on the plane.
Can Leicester play with the same confidence?
Their direct attacking football could outplay Cherries
Bournemouth must improve chance creation
Leicester’s next step is to take their form from the previous game into this one.
It’s easier said than done, of course. We’ve seen Leicester’s struggles away from home this season, as well as their poor form away to Bournemouth.
However, we’ve seen what happens when their front players can click.
If they perform like that against Bournemouth, it should be another three points from Rodgers’ men.
Leicester to win 2-0
