BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs EVERTON FC Match Preview & Analysis

Brighton have proved that they are too good to be relegated this season, showing just enough quality when required to keep them afloat of the relegation zone.

They played excellently in the first half against Manchester United, taking the lead before being overpowered by their opponent’s superior quality in the final third.

Still, with six points to play with in terms of a buffer to Fulham in 18th, they will feel quietly confident of doing enough to secure survival over their remaining eight matches.

Everton have struggled with consistency of late, and haven’t won a Premier League game in their last four attempts. Admittedly, they’ve played both Manchester City and Chelsea in two of those, but their performance levels have certainly dropped.

The top four now seems a step too far for Ancelotti’s side, and they are in a tough race to finish in a European position at all for next season. They could do with a win here.

Teams Preview

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LLWWL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Two wins from last three has really boosted survival hopes

Looking to win consecutive home games for the second time under Potter

Reasons to be fearful:

Have dropped a league-high 20 points from winning positions this season

Everton are due a good performance

It was little surprise that Brighton took the lead against Manchester United last weekend, despite their eventual defeat.

They’ve taken the lead in each of their last four fixtures, though have gone on to lose in two of them, and that coupled with the amount of points they’ve dropped from losing positions, appear to be lacking a belief that they can see out games.

Nevetheless, they possess some quality players who can run teams ragged when they are on song. The combination of Maupay and Welbeck up front, with Leandro Trossard in behind, appears to be working well for the Seagulls right now.

They could be boosted by the return of defenders Dan Burn and Adam Webster, who have overcome injury concerns.

Star Man – Danny Welbeck

Could score in three consecutive league matches for the first time since 2014.

Everton FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): WLLLD

Reasons to be cheerful:

Beat Brighton earlier on in the season

Looking to set a new club record of 10 away wins for the season

Reasons to be fearful:

They could go five games without a win here

     Recent form has been worrying

Everton have watched their dreams of a top four finish fall by the wayside over the past month or so, with an inconsistent string of results punishing their good form from earlier in the season.

Last month, they lost to a very good Chelsea side, one of their rivals to a top four spot, however it is the points they dropped against Burnley and Crystal Palace which have seen them fall down the table.

The Toffees have had almost a full squad to choose from in recent weeks, but they have lost much of the spark which took them to the top of the table in the first part of the year.

Jordan Pickford is back in training but won’t be risked yet, while Andre Gomes remains out.

Star Man – James Rodriguez

He scored twice when these teams met earlier in the season, and also scored recently against Palace.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs EVERTON FC Winning Prediction

     Should be an even contest

     Both sides will get chances

     Can Everton’s quality pay off?

You would think that Everton need to win almost all of their remaining nine fixtures to finish in a top four position, especially with the other sides competing with them winning more consistently right now.

Brighton are a good team and deserve to stay up this season. They will find enough points from their remaining matches, even if they don’t earn any here.

Everton to win 1-0
