Crystal Palace vs Leicester City Match Prediction & Analysis

Roy Hodgson has returned as Crystal Palace manager after the club dispensed with Patrick Vieira over the recent international break.

Hodgson is well thought of at the club having spent four positive years there between 2017 and 2021. It is expected that he is under a short-term contract with the aim of keeping Palace in the Premier League.

He has plenty of experience and should be able to re-focus the players at his disposal to kick on and earn enough points to make themselves comfortable.

Leicester are far less certain of a place in the Premier League next season and are now without a win from any of their last five in the league.

The Foxes are stalling under Brendan Rodgers and are just one point ahead of the bottom three. Defeat here could see them dragged further in the mess.

Crystal Palace have taken the bold step of sacking their manager at a crucial part of the season, a decision that not everyone seems to agree with.

Patrick Vieira hadn’t been able to get the results required to take Palace to the next level – the club has gone 13 games without victory – but there was a feeling that he could steer them to safety this season.

Their next six games are all against teams beneath them in the league and Roy Hodgson has as good opportunity to start putting some points on the board.

The Eagles’ home support will be right behind their new manager and the players here and it could help them get over the line. 

If they can rediscover their energy and counterattacking qualities, they’ll be fine this season.

Star Man – Wilf Zaha

Zaha has seven goals from his 10 appearances against Leicester, his best return against any opponent. He was Hodgson’s best player before and he can be once again here.

     Defeat would likely see them move into the bottom three

Unlike Crystal Palace, Leicester have decided to stick with their manager, Brendan Rodgers, throughout the season despite long spells of poor football and disappointing results.

There is still more than enough quality within this Foxes squad to be higher up the league than they currently are, but they are in a scrap for survival and must start to put points on the board.

Whereas Palace struggle to score goals but don’t concede too many either, Leicester have little trouble finding the net but can’t keep them out at their own end. 

In Maddison and Barnes, alongside the likes of Daka and Iheanacho, they have some quality attackers who can win a game if they click.

Maddison, alongside Harvey Barnes, has dragged this Leicester team along at times this season. Maddison is now a regular in England’s squad and is reaping the rewards for having an excellent season individually.
