Manchester City are aiming to follow up from their fantastic Champions League victory over PSG in midweek by further extending their lead at the top of the Premier League.

As expected, City rotated several players once again but still managed to find the same high levels of quality which have taken them to the top of the league, not to mention Carabao Cup winners, and the semi finals of the Champions League and FA Cup.

Their win over Aston Villa last week made sure that their lead over 2nd place Manchester United remained in double figures, and with their city rivals playing Liverpool this weekend, City could extend this further.

Crystal Palace fought well against Leicester in their last match, despite eventually losing, and will be hoping that they can bring the same performance levels here.

With City playing so many games right now, Palace manager Hodgson will know that this is as good a time as any to test them.

Crystal Palace Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LWDLL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Will be better rested than their opponents here

Played well against Leicester last week

Reasons to be fearful:

Were thrashed 4-0 by City earlier in the campaign

Have only won five of their home games this season

Roy Hodgson stated that his side did everything they could to claim a result against Leicester in their last game, although eventually losing 2-1 after taking an early lead.

They had chances to add further goals as the game played on, though Palace’s season-long problem of being unable to convert chances came back to haunt them as Leicester may their wastefulness pay.

Here, they know that they have as good a chance as any of surprising Manchester City, especially with their opponents coming off the back of a tiring game against PSG in midweek.

With their opponents likely to rotate many of their stars, Palace should set themselves up to start quickly and grab an early goal. Whether they will be able to or not is a different matter.

Star Man – Wilf Zaha

Scored his 10th goal of the season against Leicester last weekend, Zaha is the one constant threat for Palace.

Reasons to be cheerful:

Can win the Premier League this weekend if United slip up

Have won their last three away league games

Reasons to be fearful:

Will rotate star players once again here

Palace can always spring a surprise

Manchester City appear to progress each time they step on a football pitch right now, and their win in the Champions League over a very good PSG side will only boost their confidence further.

They are surely the best team in Europe right now and seem likely to progress to the Champions League final for the first time in their history.

As we’ve seen most weeks from Pep Guardiola, he will definitely chop and change his team selection here, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Aymeric Laporte coming back into the side against Palace. John Stones will miss out through suspension.

With several changes comes the risk of a drop in performance levels for most teams, but very rarely for City who will be heavy favourites to win here.

Star Man – Raheem Sterling

Having missed out in the Champions League recently, Guardiola is likely to play Sterling in this fixture and will be determined to prove his worth.

     City to make several changes

Palace will go for the win themselves

However, the away side are big favourites

There’s always a question mark around the fixture in the middle of two massive games, like this one is for Manchester City.

There’s no question that the games against PSG mean more to them than this one, but they’ll be determined to beat Palace nonetheless.

Palace’s best chance is to be positive from the outset and hope that City are not at their best.
