But none of that happened at the Etihad, as they far from perfectly brushed aside a spirited Nottingham Forest with some help from Doku, De Bruyne and Bernado Silva. Pep Guardiola looked finally at ease. He demanded that he would find a solution and delivered just that. Picking Jack Grealish in a central pivotal area helped. The Englishman known for his close control and sublime dribbling stretched the Forest backline and opened up space for Bernado and Doku to run into. It would’ve been a whole different game had Chris Wood finished, but Pep’s faith in Ortega paid off and they will happily take the three points.

But, City being City can never be written off and ruled out. The Spanish boss will have some solution that will get the blues over the line. The reigning champions will want to ply their trade at Selhurst, get the job done and return to Manchester, before a midweek trip to Turin against Juventus that awaits them.
