Five-time national champions Dempo Goa return to the Indian Football League determined to reclaim past glory. After a sixth-place finish last season — despite an injury-hit campaign — head coach Samir Naik now believes his side can mount a genuine title push.

Their Super Cup campaign reinforced that belief. Unbeaten in a “group of death” featuring Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Chennaiyin FC, Dempo held two ISL heavyweights from Kolkata to draws, all with an all-Indian lineup. Now, with their full quota of six foreign signings added, belief must have only grown.

That said, much will hinge on Trinidad & Tobago striker Marcus Joseph, who netted 10 goals last term, while Aubin Kouakou and Sebastián Gutierrez provide steel and balance at the back and in midfield.

Real Kashmir begin the new campaign with a point to prove. Their last competitive outing came in April 2025 after pulling out of the Super Cup, paved the way for Dempo's participation  and that absence only adds extra motivation as they return to action. 

The Snow Leopards were impressive in 2024–25, finishing third with 37 points and narrowly missing ISL promotion by five — driven largely by an unbeaten home record. Improving their away form (just three wins), however, remains the next big step, and the opening game on the road offers the perfect test.

The squad looks well equipped for the challenge. With their foreign quota filled and key leaders like captain Kamal Issah and Idan Ocran retained, Real Kashmir have added muscle and pace through Djibril Toure and Shedrack Charles. Backed by Furqan Ahmad Dar in goal and Mohammad Hammad in defence, this side has both steel and balance to mount another serious push.
