Despite having not played a game for three weeks, Brentford made up for lost time in claiming yet another victory over London rivals Fulham, pushing forward their unbeaten run in the process.

The west London team now have the longest current unbeaten run in the league and have two games in hand over Fulham in 7th. They could also close the three-point gap to Newcastle in 6th.

Although there is a pending charge against Ivan Toney to settle in the near future, Brentford’s own future looks bright, especially if they can continue their run here.

Everton, on the other hand, look destined to spend the rest of the season fighting a relegation battle that may not end well for them.

Sean Dyche arrived at the club to positive reaction, but that has since slipped away. Are the players capable of saving their season?

The Toffees won their first two games at home under Dyche and they could do with some more Goodison Park magic here.

Everton FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Need to repeat previous home form under Dyche

Showed determination to earn draw away to Forest last week

Reasons to be fearful:

Lost this fixture 3-2 last season

Have lost every home game this season in which they have conceded

Everton’s fate this season may well be decided over the next month or so. After a tough Brentford clash, the Toffees face Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham – all clubs chasing near the top end.

Three of those fixtures are at Goodison Park and Sean Dyche and his players must target those as games they must not lose.

With the relegation battle so tight at the bottom, and six teams within a three-point margin, a win or two can propel a team several places up the table.

Everton must regain the spirit of those first two home games under Dyche, where they beat Arsenal and Leeds. To lose here to Brentford would be a massive blow.

Star Man – Demarai Gray

Despite scoring only four league goals this season, Gray is Everton’s top scorer in the league. This shows just how desperate the Toffees are for goals.

Brentford FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Unbeaten in their three league games against Everton

No defeats in their last five away matches and last 12 in total

Reasons to be fearful

Will come up against a stern Everton test

No clean sheets in their last three games

Brentford continue to surprise people almost on a weekly basis – on this occasion it was beating their West London rivals in a thrilling 3-2 clash last weekend.

The Bees remain behind Fulham by a point, but it gives them hope of a European finish at the end of this season. They are only four points behind Liverpool in 5th, although that’s probably a stretch too far.

They also have the longest current unbeaten run in the league at 12 and have gone undefeated in their last five in the road, although they haven’t won either of their last two.

At Goodison Park, where they won last season, they will face an Everton side desperate for points. Like Arsenal and Leeds found out last month, it can be a difficult place to go.

Regardless of the result, Brentford are a fantastic team.

Star Man – Ivan Toney

The English striker just keeps on going in terms of goal scoring and remains one of the best penalty takers around. He now has 16 goals from his 24 appearances this season.

     Goodison Park will be rocking

Everton will be desperate for a win here

Brentford are well-organised and won’t concede easily

Everton simply cannot afford to lose this game, not with so many big clashes coming up over the next month or so. They must claim points from their home matches if they are to survive this season.

They know they will have the full support of the fans but with goals few and far between, chances may be at a premium against a well-drilled Brentford side.

As for the Bees, they haven’t lost any of their last five away from home and that may well continue here.
