Everton are well-placed to capitalise upon any mistakes made by the teams above them this weekend, with a relatively kind fixture presenting itself to them.

With two games in hand, The Toffees will still be optimistic of claiming a top four finish, despite the number of teams all vying for those spots.

They will be delighted at earning a last-minute draw against Manchester United last weekend and followed that up by securing a place in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals in midweek by beating Spurs.

Fulham, like their fellow relegation battlers, seem to be losing their fight for survival right now, sitting eight points adrift from safety. They’ve now gone 12 games since their last victory and, although they’ve only lost twice during that period, they’ve not done enough going forward to win games.

Here, even against a good side, they must go all out for the win. A point is little use at this stage.

Everton FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): DLWDW

Reasons to be cheerful:

High-scoring win over Spurs in midweek cup game will boost morale

Two games in hand can lift Toffees to top four position

Reasons to be fearful:

Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks set for a spell on the sidelines

Played 120 minutes in their FA Cup game in midweek

Everton face a stern challenge to force themselves into the top four before the end of the season, especially with seven or eight teams vying for those spots.

They have, however, put themselves in a good position by staying on Liverpool’s coattails, just three points behind last season’s champions, with two games in hand.

Fortunately, the injury Dominic Calvert-Lewin picked up in midweek is not as serious as first feared. He and fellow absentee Jordan Pickford are likely to miss this game, but should be fit in the not too distant future.

The Toffees claimed three points against Fulham back in November, a result which forced The Cottagers into the relegation zone. Everton will be hoping that they can produce a similar result here.

Star Man – Richarlison

The Brazilian is on fire at the moment, banging in two fantastic goals in the 5-4 win over Spurs in midweek.

Fulham FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LDDLD

Reasons to be cheerful:

Only two league defeats from last 12 matches

Capable of picking up points against the bigger sides

Reasons to be fearful:

Cannot afford for the gap to safety to grow

Only Burnley and Sheffield United have scored fewer goals

Although Fulham have undoubtedly been the best of the bottom three teams this season, there is still the sense that time is growing thin for them to reach a position of safety.

With just two victories all season, and none from their last 12 games, Fulham have seen the likes of Burnley and Brighton stay ahead of them, just out of reach but close enough to keep believing.

There is of course hope, and Fulham have played some good football this season and earned positive results against the big sides. The Cottagers have beaten Leicester and taken points off Tottenham and Liverpool too.

Here, they must be positive in the knowledge that several Everton players will have put in 120 minutes in their midweek FA Cup match, and at this stage of a season that can be draining to say the least.

Star Man – Bobby Reid

Is easily Fulham’s top scorer this season with seven, but must pass double figures if Fulham are to stand a chance of survival.

     Everton will boss possession

Fulham unlikely to earn anything here

The Toffees to creep towards top four

With 16 matches to play, Fulham are running out of time to make a dash for safety and, although the eight point gap is not impossible, they must start picking up points more frequently.

Against Everton, they would require one of their best performances of the season to take anything, which is why the Toffees are the favourites to claim three points here.
