Brentford’s win over Manchester United last weekend was the greatest of their time in the Premier League so far, and one of the most eye-raising results we’ve seen in a long time.

Manchester United are one of the easiest teams to play against right now, but Brentford played brilliantly and took full advantage of their opponent’s troubles.

They have made solid acquisitions in the transfer market over the summer, strengthening a squad that already works hard and plays good football under Thomas Frank.

Fulham have made a decent return to Premier League life, after securing promotion at the end of last season.

After earning a point against Liverpool on the opening weekend, they missed a chance to earn three points by wasting a last-minute penalty against Wolves, having to settle for a draw.

Brentford will be full of confidence, but can Fulham gain their first win of the season in front of their fans?

Fulham FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Have played well in their two games so far

Mitrovic seems to be full of confidence

Reasons to be fearful:

Opponents will be full of motivation after United victory

Still look a little short across their squad

Fulham remain undefeated this season, largely thanks to a brilliant performance on the opening day of the season against Liverpool.

A 2-2 draw could have ended in victory had they managed to hold on to a lead earlier in the game. Against Wolves, they also had a golden chance to claim victory, missing a penalty in the closing stages of the game.

They will be hoping that they can go that extra step here, albeit it against a flowing, confident Brentford side that are showing other promoted sides how to do it.

Positively, Mitrovic is looking confident so far this season. His two goals against Liverpool showed signs of a striker that dominated the Championship last season.

They will need more recruitment before the end of the transfer window to feel like they can compete this season.

Star Man – Aleksandar Mitrovic

If he had scored the penalty against Wolves, Fulham would be 5th in the league and he would be top scorer. It is fine margins that count in this league, and he will need to take every chance he gets.

Brentford FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

4-0 win over Manchester United is greatest result in their history

All aspects of their squad seem well balanced

Reasons to be fearful

Can they motivate themselves against smaller opposition?

Fulham will be better organised than their previous opponents

Ironically, Fulham will present a tougher challenge to Brentford than Manchester United did last weekend.

The Red Devils are in the middle of their worst period in decades and are one of the easiest sides to play against right now.

Fulham have made a decent start to the season and, like Brentford, achieved a good result against a Big Six team.

Brentford will need to find a way to contain the handful that is Mitrovic, while looking to score goals themselves. Can they motivate themselves against smaller opposition than last weekend?

Brentford won’t finish the season in 3rd place, but they are riding high right now.

Star Man – Ivan Toney

He wasn’t on the scoresheet against United, though provided two brilliant assists for his teammates. He holds the ball up superbly and is such a handful for defenders.

Mitrovic and Toney to cause problems

     Both teams to score

Even game in terms of possession

There are likely to be several goals in this game, as both teams look to play good football and press forward with every opportunity.

Both have excellent target men in Mitrovic and Toney. Brentford arguably have the better backup, with Mbeumo and Wissa, potentially from the bench.

It’s hard to determine which way this will go, especially considering Fulham’s home advantage.

A draw could be the most likely.

Fulham 2-2 Brentford
