Leicester’s decision to appoint Dean Smith as manager appears to be working in their favour, although they still need some positive results from their final four games of the season.

Their run-in looks tough, with Liverpool and Newcastle still to play, and they are only out of the bottom three on goal difference.

That makes games like this even more important, especially against a side that isn’t fighting for anything more than their pride at this stage of the season.

Indeed, Fulham have lost their last three games, likely because there is no chance of them being drawn into a relegation fight and also being out of contention for European places.

The Cottagers have actually played well in those three defeats, but they are suffering from a lack of motivation beyond pleasing their fans.

Fulham FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Beat Leicester 1-0 earlier this season

Have played well despite recent defeats

Reasons to be fearful:

Lost three of their last four home games

Mitrovic remains out for another week

The best compliment you can pay Fulham right now is that they don’t need anything from their last four games to have enjoyed a good season.

Many would have had Fulham as one of the favourites to go straight back down to the Championship at the end of the campaign, but Marco Silva has steered the Cottagers to a successful return to the big time.

They have had ups and downs of course, including this current run of three consecutive defeats. They have played relatively well during those losses, which came to Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

The Cottagers remain in the top half, and within reach of their record points total for a Premier League season, which is 53.

On current form, that may be a little out of sight, but they have recovered well from adversity on previous occasions this season.

Star Man – Andreas Pereira

Fulham have just one goal from their last three games, showing that they are missing Mitrovic upfront. Pereira has enjoyed a good season with 11 goal involvements, and could do with a form boost here.

Leicester City Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Earned five points from their last three games – more than previous 10

Vardy and Maddison’s form is returning to their best

Reasons to be fearful

Lost to Fulham earlier in the season

Iheanacho remains out and Evans is a doubt

Leicester are slowly but surely turning the ship that was headed towards relegation before Dean Smith took the reins a few weeks ago.

The Foxes have earned five points from their last three matches, one more than they claimed from their previous 10. Important players, like Vardy and Maddison, are returning to form and appear to be revived by a change of manager and a different approach.

Other than the defeat to Manchester City, the Foxes have competed well in each of their games under Smith, and you wouldn’t be surprised if they survived this season, despite their dangerous position.

Here Kelechi Iheanacho remains out injured, although Jonny Evans has returned to first-team training.

Star Man – Jamie Vardy

Vardy has rolled back the years in recent weeks, scoring two in his last two appearances. He also looks fitter and sharper than he has at times this season and can link up to great effect with James Maddison.

     An even, entertaining game

Leicester to have more of a goal threat

Fulham have to find a route to goal

Both teams have a point to prove here, while it’s Leicester who need the victory more than their opponents this weekend.

Usually, it’s the more desperate team that pulls through, but Fulham are better at home than they’ve shown in recent outings.

There should be plenty of chances at both ends here. Leicester have the better attackers, although Fulham have shown that they can cope without Mitrovic at times this season.
