This has the potential to be one of the better games this weekend, with both teams impressing in their own right at the moment.

Fulham appear to be here to stay as a top-half club right now. Despite back-to-back defeats in recent times, the club bounced back with a promising draw against London rivals Chelsea.

While you would expect Liverpool and indeed Chelsea to improve in the second half of the season, Fulham are a well-organised and talented team that are unlikely to drift too far from their present position.

Nottingham Forest, in a similar fashion, are another team that are over-achieving right now.

Having spent much of the opening months inside the bottom three, their supporters are now enjoying life a little further up the table. Three wins from their past six games has helped no end in that regard.

With experience and youth sprinkled throughout their squad, you’d expect them to challenge for places at the top end of the bottom half of the league.

Fulham FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Won six of their last eight fixtures against Forest

Victory here could take them as high as 6th

Reasons to be fearful:

Both recent defeats came at Craven Cottage

Mitrovic is going through a dry spell

Despite Fulham being one of the favourites to face relegation this season, having been promoted to the Premier League at the end of the last campaign, the London club are sitting pretty right now.

Marco Silva has done a wonderful job of transferring his team from being an excellent Championship club to a fine one in the Premier League too.

Although they’ve had a couple of blips recently – defeats against Tottenham and Newcastle – Fulham remain on course for a top-half finish this season. Victory here could take them as high as 6th depending on others.

On the flip side, their star striker has gone a little cold of late and the Cottagers’ last two defeats against Nottingham Forest came at home.

Star Man – Aleksandar Mitrovic

The Serbian has 11 goals from 20 games this season, although he’s fired a blank in each of his last three league matches. He needs four to match Dimitar Berbatov’s 15 from the 2012/13 season.

Nottingham Forest FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Unbeaten in their last five league games

Kept a clean sheet in two of their last three league matches

Reasons to be fearful

Lost six of their last eight against Cottagers

     Tough upcoming fixture schedule

Along with Fulham, Nottingham Forest were favourites to go straight back down to the Championship when they gained promotion at the end of last season.

However, step by step, Steve Cooper has fashioned his team into a genuine top-division club that deserves to be where it is. The introduction of Keylor Navas in goal could turn out to be an inspired move.

Indeed, Forest have now kept two clean sheets from their last three in the league, proving that their defence is tightening up. They have gone unbeaten in their last five in the league, a stat that showcases this improvement.

Against the Cottagers, we know that they’ll give a good account of themselves. They have become a team that isn’t afraid to show their personality on the pitch anymore.

Star Man – Brennan Johnson

Johnson’s electric pace has now been matched by his goalscoring ability. The rapid attacker now has five goals this season, including the winner against Leeds recently.

An even contest between two good teams

Mitrovic to break his scoring troubles

Forest to trouble the hosts too

Their first game of the season ended as a 3-2 classic, with Forest heading into a 2-0 lead before Fulham came back to claim victory.

We may see a similar game here, which would be fantastic for the neutral. Forest are a better team since then but Fulham have come a long way this season too.

Mitrovic hasn’t gone four games without a goal for a long time but Forest have a goalscorer themselves these days in Johnson.

A draw could be on the cards.
