Kerala Blasters need to shake off a very poor patch of form if they are to end the regular season on a positive note. There is not much danger for Kerala Blasters and their top six position given their eight-point advantage over Punjab with the game in hand. However, the match against Jamshedpur at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in the Indian Super League can be a tricky affair.

Jamshedpur FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Jamshedpur have lost only thrice at home this season

There have been a string of spirited home displays from Jamshedpur in recent weeks

Reasons to be fearful

There have been back-to-back 3-0 losses for Jamshedpur

The team are without a goal in two league matches

Jamshedpur are still with a shout of finishing in the top six positions with the team just one point off Punjab in the sixth place. However, the back-to-back heavy losses against Mumbai City and Mohun Bagan have taken the shine off the home team in recent games. Khalid Jamil’s team will be at home in two of the next three matches and his record against Kerala Blasters is excellent with only one loss in four outings.

Star man – Chima Chukwu

Chima Chukwu is the top scorer for Jamshedpur with six goals in 18 matches this season. As the target man for Jamshedpur, the 32-year-old’s impact on the team goes much beyond just scoring goals. The Nigerian is a great pick to come up with a strong performance.

Kerala Blasters FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Kerala Blasters scored three goals in the last league match

The team has picked up back-to-back away wins against Jamshedpur

Reasons to be fearful

Kerala Blasters continue to be devoid of confidence and performances

There have been four losses in the recent five matches for Kerala Blasters

Despite having picked up only three from a possible 15 points in recent weeks, Kerala Blasters still sit in the top half of the table. Much of it is down to the excellent few months at the start of the campaign but Ivan Vukomanovic and the team have a lot of work to do if they are to sustain the position. The 46-year-old continues to be without Adrián Luna, Kwame Peprah, Jaushua Sotirio, Sachin Suresh, and Aibanbha Dohling due to injuries.

Star man – Dimitrios Diamantakos

Dimitrios Diamantakos is into double figures for the campaign following his brace against Mohun Bagan. He has now had back-to-back campaigns with Kerala Blasters and he has come up with goals in double figures in each of them. The 31-year-old is up to 12 goals for the season – his best for Kerala Blasters.

Kerala Blasters are hoping to shake off their poor run and get a crucial victory but it is unlikely to be the order of the day. Even though Jamshedpur have had some big losses, they have been facing strong opposition like Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City. Against the leaky defence of Kerala Blasters, Jamshedpur should have enough in the ranks to get a victory.
