Leeds are one of several teams battling it out near the foot of the Premier League, with their form not good enough to pull them out of the mire right now.

They are one of three teams, alongside West Ham and Everton, that has not won any of their last five in the league and they are becoming desperate for that to change.

The likes of Wolves and Southampton have changed their managers and will expect to push up the table as a result. Leeds won’t want to be left behind, so home games like this are massive for them.

Brentford continue their overall excellence in the top half of the table, winning four of their last five, including an impressive win over Liverpool and a battling draw against Tottenham.

With teams like Liverpool and Chelsea struggling around them, it may represent their best chance at securing a European place for next season, although there is a long way to go.

Leeds United Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Lost just one of their previous 16 home games against Brentford

Thrashed Cardiff City 5-2 in the FA Cup in their last game

Reasons to be fearful:

Haven’t managed a home win since start of November

Just two wins from their last 15 league games

Leeds have a passionate, intelligent manager in Jesse Marsch at the helm, however they cannot escape the fact that they have lost nine of their last 15 league games.

It’s a run which has dragged them down the table and right in middle of a relegation scrap. Elland Road and the Leeds faithful haven’t witnessed a win since the start of November.

Positively, their record against Brentford is good, especially when playing at home. They’ve won eight and drawn seven of their previous 15 meetings at Elland Road, which bodes well here.

Georginio Rutter, Leeds’ record signing, could make his debut on the bench this weekend, still short of match fitness. Defenders Liam Cooper, Robin Koch and Maximilian Wober have all recovered from minor knocks.

Star Man – Patrick Bamford

Bamford appears to have shaken off his injury troubles and now has three goals from his last two appearances. He faces increased competition for his place with Rutter coming in, but is in form right now.

Brentford FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Unbeaten from their last seven in the league – a club record

Could win four consecutive top-flight league games for the first time since 1939

Reasons to be fearful

Poor record away at Elland Road

     Can their excellent form last?

Brentford’s phenomenal season continues at pace, with the west London side impressing and surprising people in equal measure.

The Bees are on a run of seven league games unbeaten, which is a club record. It has seen them claim victory over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, while holding onto a top-half position.

Still, with how the teams are bunched up right now, it wouldn’t take much for Thomas Frank’s men to drop a few places, so losing games all of a sudden is not on Brentford’s schedule.

With key away games against Arsenal and Manchester United to follow before the end of February, the pressure on their shoulders will only increase until the end of the season.

Star Man – Ivan Toney

Toney continues to produce the goods for his team, with five goals in his last four league appearances. He now has 14 goals from his 19 games so far this season.

Plenty of energy from both teams

Should see chances at both ends

     Leeds must avoid defeat

With teams collecting and dropping points in equal measure near the bottom of the table, you feel that Leeds can’t afford to lose this one.

Brentford are a tough nut to crack at the best of times, but at Elland Road Leeds will feel that they can claim a positive result.

Both teams will go for the win, with plenty of energy and determination. They could end up cancelling each other out.
