In the midfield, Everton's biggest signing was Jack Grealish, who was a key two-way player for Man City during their run.

The 35-year-old Gueye has been a strong presence for years, with his 48 interceptions being a key stat that showed why many midfielders avoided him. 

The addition of fresh youth in Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, who showed potential with 8 tackles in a few starts for Chelsea, will also help the backline led by James Tarkowski, who had 41 interceptions. Tarkowski, a disruptor who didn't allow many passes through, helped the elite-level goalkeeper Jordan Pickford make some great saves.
