Leicester are slipping back down the table once more, looking once again as though they may face a relegation battle this year.

They started off the season poorly, spending time in the bottom three before pulling themselves together before the Premier League paused for the World Cup.

Since then, however, four consecutive defeats in the league have left Brendan Rodgers’ team scrapping for places near the foot once more.

On the other hand, Brighton are a shining light of a small club punching above their weight in the Premier League. A thumping 3-0 win over Liverpool is just the latest positive for the Seagulls this season.

Roberto De Zerbi has his feet well and truly under the table now and he’ll have his sights set on European football next season.

Leicester City Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

James Maddison could be involved for first time since November

Incoming signings could boost morale at the club

Reasons to be fearful:

Have lost their last two against Brighton

On the verge of five straight defeats for the second time this campaign

Leicester are joined by Bournemouth in having the worst form in the league right now, having each lost their last four matches on the bounce.

For Leicester, one of the more successful Premier League teams over the past decade, it has come as a huge blow to have fallen so quickly. The fallout from not spending in the summer transfer window has been swift.

The Foxes could lose five matches in a row for the second time this season. That last happened back in 1977/78, a season in which they were relegated.

Positively, shining star James Maddison could return here having not played for his club since before the World Cup. He has been in training this week, as has Dewsbury-Hall and Praet.

Victor Kristiansen, a defender from FC Copenhagen is due to sign for Leicester soon, although that may not be wrapped up before the weekend.

Star Man – James Maddison

The attacking midfield’s presence would be a huge boost for Leicester if he is fit enough to return. He has been their leading light this season with seven goals and four assists from his 14 appearances.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Looking to win three consecutive league games

Could go as high as 5th with victory

Reasons to be fearful

Other clubs are circling around their best players

Leicester will be scrapping for points

Brighton seem to go from strength to strength every time they play, whether it’s progressing in the FA Cup or thrashing Liverpool in the league.

A win here could take them as high as 5th if Fulham and Tottenham slip up ahead of them, although it looks like Brighton will continue to challenge for European spots throughout the remainder of the season.

An away win against Leicester would mean their third consecutive win, only the second time they will have accomplished such a feat in the top division.

This week saw the departure of Leandro Trossard to Arsenal for £25m, a player who has been one of Brighton’s best this season. The Seagulls also rejected a £55m bid for Moises Caicedo this week.

The success of Brighton will eventually lead to bigger clubs coming in for their best players, so the longer they can hold onto them the better.

Star Man – Solly March

March has four goals in his last four appearances, as well as contributions in other areas. With Trossard leaving the club, players like March need to pick up the slack in front of goal.

     Leicester are desperate for points

     Both teams to score

Maddison’s return will be huge for Leicester

Brighton are flying right now, and many would expect them to follow up a comfortable win over Liverpool with a similar result over Leicester.

The Foxes are desperate for points, however, and you would expect them to stop the rot eventually. With James Maddison back, they should be sharper going forward.

With big games coming up for both teams in the near future, a point may suit both of them here.
