Unlike some of the games this weekend, this one has so much riding on it near the top and bottom of the Premier League.

For Leicester and Dean Smith, it’s all about survival with just three games remaining to ensure safety. In 19th place, time is running out for the players to turn their torrid season around.

Even if they lose this one, it’s not game over for the Foxes. Other teams around them are also struggling, with Everton losing to Manchester City and Leeds drawing with Newcastle. A positive result here would be massive.

Liverpool know that they need to win all of their remaining three games and hope that either Manchester United or Newcastle slip up in theirs to claim a top four spot this season.

They’ve probably left it too late but Jurgen Klopp’s men have at least found the sort of form that has led them to trophies in previous seasons.

A win here would be their seventh in a row.

Reasons to be cheerful:

     Won their last two home games against Liverpool

     One victory would launch them outside the bottom three

Reasons to be fearful:

     Just one clean sheet in their previous 13 meetings with Liverpool

     Defeat would leave them in trouble with tricky fixtures ahead

At the moment, it’s looking like Leicester alongside Leeds and Everton will fight it out near the bottom, with two of those sides ultimately going down.

Yes, Nottingham Forest may be dragged back into the mix, but they seem to have a greater ability to pick up points right now.

Leicester’s run-in is not simple – after Liverpool they travel to Newcastle who are in a top four race of their own. Should the Foxes lose those games, it’ll be lights out and they’ll be spending next season in the Championship.

Dean Smith’s men have enjoyed their home games against Liverpool in recent times, winning their last two. They have only kept one clean sheet from their last 13 meetings, however.

The minimum they’ll be looking for here is a point, which would see them go level with Leeds and a point behind Everton.

Maddison scored and assisted in Leicester’s 5-3 defeat to Fulham recently. His performance levels have been high despite his team’s woes this season.

     Six wins in a row keeps them in contention for the top four

     Won eight of their last 11 against Leicester

Reasons to be fearful

     Only five wins from their 17 away games this season

     Conceded four goals in their last two visits to the King Power Stadium

The Reds’ recent run of form has been Liverpool at their best, winning six in a row and closing the gap on Manchester United in the process.

United’s win over Wolves means they need to win two of their three remaining games to finish inside the top four, whereas Liverpool need to win all three of theirs and hope that their rivals slip up.

Their dominance in games has dropped off recently, however – each of their last five victories have come by just a single-goal margin, despite their fantastic attacking firepower.

Leicester have conceded plenty of goals throughout the season, 64 in fact, although Liverpool will need to watch out for the Foxes’ attacking players too.

Star Man – Mo Salah

Scored his 19th goal of the season in their win over Brentford last week, his 100th at Anfield. He could have a field day if Leicester are as slack as we’ve seen them at times.
