Manchester City have closed the gap at the top of the table from four points to two, with the London side drawing their last game against Southampton.

It means that City and the Gunners have an identical record over their past six games – four wins, one draw and one defeat – and remain neck and neck at the top of the Premier League.

They are both also doing well in their European pursuits, meaning that they are firing on all fronts so far. Guardiola will demand nothing less than 100% effort here, knowing that any slip ups could hurt them.

Leicester have slowly but surely got their season going, finally pulling together a string of decent form that has lifted them not only off the foot of the table, but out of the bottom three altogether.

Only three points separates them from their current position in 17th to West Ham in 10th, showing how quickly teams can shift right now.

There’s much at stake here.

Leicester City Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Earned 10 points from the last 15 available

Three wins from last five games represents sharp improvement in form

Reasons to be fearful:

Lost nine of their last 11 against City

No side has scored more against Leicester than City since 2016

Brendan Rodgers will start to feel a little happier with how this season is panning out, having seen his side win three of their last five and push out of the relegation zone.

Although a win against City is unlikely, the Foxes’ next two games come against Everton and West Ham. If they can claim something from those games, they could reach the World Cup break near the midtable mark.

It would be a phenomenal upturn in form for the club. There were rumours that Rodgers was days away from the sack and that Leicester were serious relegation contenders.

All of that may still happen, but there are big signs of improvement right now.

Against City, they will come up against the full force of Guardiola’s machine. No team has scored more goals against Leicester than City in recent seasons, which is a cause for concern.

Star Man – James Maddison

Maddison seems to be at the heart of everything good about Leicester this season. He scored his sixth of the campaign in the 4-0 win over Wolves.

Manchester City FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

     Great record against Leicester

Can go top of the league with a win

Reasons to be fearful

Just one win from their last four in all competitions

Rotating their team could cause inconsistencies

For Manchester City’s blistering start to the season on all fronts, they have now won just one of their last four games.

While they have already topped their Champions League group, City have drawn their last two games in that competition 0-0, with Guardiola choosing to rotate his side and give experience to younger players.

In the Premier League, they have kept pace well with Arsenal, staying within two points of the London club. A defeat to Liverpool, however, derailed their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Often, we’ve seen Manchester City bounce back from mixed patches of form to deliver an exceptional winning streak that seemingly goes on for months at a time. A win over Leicester could kickstart that.

Guardiola is likely to play his strongest team here, with Haaland rested for 45 minutes in midweek, and you would expect to see normal service resumed.

Star Man – Erling Haaland

His goal tally continues to look more ridiculous by the week, it seems. With 22 goals already, he has more goals than most teams in the Premier League.

Manchester City to turn up in full force

     Haaland to score

Leicester will have a chance or two themselves

Manchester City have enjoyed coming to the King Power stadium in recent years, having won on all of their last three visits there.

Leicester are an improved outfit but it’s unlikely that they will get anything here. A chance or two in front of goal, perhaps, but little more than that.

City rested some of their key players in midweek and will be back with a bang here.
