The victory over Brighton capped a week of success for the Reds, who also defeated RB Leipzig (1-0) and tied an away game against Arsenal despite trailing 1-2 at halftime. Meanwhile, the Seagulls are coming off a disappointing draw with the Wolves, in which they squandered a 2-0 lead.

With Brighton, another tricky opponent, and Aston Villa coming up, Liverpool will need to improve on their performance last week if they are to keep pace with City in the coming weeks. 

When it comes to defence, Brighton has been nervy inside the box. They have given up two penalties and have occasionally been critical of giving the ball away, which has resulted in five goals. As soon as the Seagulls lose control, the Reds will undoubtedly put more pressure on them in an attempt to force a mistake. However, they will need to be cautious of Brighton's strong counters.

As often is the case, Mohammad Salah will be the key player to watch out for in this clash. On average, he has produced at least one goal or one assist against Brighton in the matches that have been played from the 2017-18 season. 

Cody Gakpo, coming off scoring a brace against the Seagulls in the recently concluded match in the Carbaro Cup, could play a big part if he starts in the 11. The Reds are currently on a 10-game unbeaten run in all competitions. During that time, they won five league games, drawing one. The Reds have scored two or more goals in seven of their nine Premier League outings.

Unfortunately, he is yet to recover from his calf injury and will miss the weekend game along with Minteh and Joao Pedro.
