Just as Liverpool’s title race appeared to be over, they bounced back with back-to-back victories to boost their chances of catching the two Manchester clubs currently ahead of them.

Having played a game more than Manchester City, and being four points behind them, they will be determined to make up for lost time and pull together a similar string of victories to their rivals.

Against Spurs in particular, as well as West Ham, The Reds were back to their best in front of goal, netting six times and clambering back into the top four in the process.

Brighton have surprised one or two people by putting their foot on the accelerator to put a seven-point gap between themselves and the bottom three. 

Their victory over Spurs, in particular, has been the result of countless good performances not getting the points they deserve. 

This should be an entertaining game, though one which Liverpool are expected to win.

The Reds have rediscovered their spark after ending a run of mixed form with two successive victories in the league.

Their game against Tottenham could have been a potential banana skin for a team which had lost two of their previous three league games, but the way in which Klopp’s men brushed aside the team from North London resembled their fine form from last season.

Liverpool will now have their sights firmly set on the two clubs above them. Manchester United are only a point ahead now, and could drop points in a potentially tricky fixture against Southampton 24 hours earlier.

Catching Manchester City will be a tougher task for sure, with the Sky Blues enjoying one of the best winning streaks of recent years. 

Here, they’ll face a tough Brighton side with high confidence levels.

That’s the case with Brighton, who went close to two months without a victory, before securing two over Leeds and Tottenham in the space of three matches.

Often this season, Brighton have played some good football, only to be let down by not killing the game off with a second or third goal. With their two wins, one goal proved enough and are indeed on for four consecutive clean sheets coming into this one.

Against Liverpool, Brighton will come under huge pressure, particularly early in the game. Though if they can withstand the initial onslaught they may have some luck frustrating the champions.

This has the potential to be an entertaining game, with both sides coming into it with good form behind them.

Liverpool now have their sights set on the two sides above them, hoping that they have overcome a difficult month of mixed form.

Brighton have eased some of the pressure on their shoulders by securing seven points from their last three games, so could play with some freedom here.
