Leeds are aiming to bounce back from defeat in their last game, against a strong Everton side, while Crystal Palace have shown solid improvement recently in winning successive league matches for only the second time this season.

This is the second game played in Leeds’ new pitch which has been installed recently at Elland Road, with the players hoping they get on a little better than the first where they were a few more slips and tumbles than expected.

The Yorkshire club will be hoping to return swiftly to winning ways here, against a Palace side who have gone level on points with them courtesy of recent wins.

A top half spot is very much on the cards for either side, with Arsenal again dropping points and no side really looking capable of sustaining a consistent patch of form.

This could well be an even contest at Elland Road.

Leeds United Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LLWWL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Two wins from five have taken them to the verge of the top half

Beat Palace on their last two visits to Elland Road

Reasons to be fearful:

In danger of losing three consecutive home matches

Palace are on a good spell of form

Leeds continue to play their own unique style of football and, for the most part, it works well for them. They’re by far the highest of the three promoted teams last year (the other two being West Brom and Fulham), and they have genuine ambitions of securing a top 10 position.

At home, their three wins this season have come against teams below them in the table and, although level on points, Crystal Palace sit two places below.

Before their 2-1 defeat to Everton, they’d won four of their last six league fixtures, proving that they are coming into this one in good form.

They’ll be tough to play against here.

Star Man – Raphinha

The flying winger has contributed four goals in his last three league appearances.

Crystal Palace Preview

Form Guide (all comps): DLLWW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time since last summer

Have won all three games against newly promoted sides from last season

Reasons to be fearful:

Wilf Zaha is a major injury doubt

They’ve lost 16 of their last 18 games without their talisman

Crystal Palace are enjoying their best spell since the opening two fixtures of the season, looking three successive wins for the first time.

They will have to do so without their best player, Wilf Zaha, however, who looks set for a spell on the sidelines through injury. The Eagles’ record without Zaha is dreadful, losing all but two of their last 18 games without him.

Palace have other talented players of course, not least Eberechi Eze who played brilliantly in their 4-1 win over Leeds in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. However, they’ll need a spirited performance to overcome Leeds’ intense style of play.

As well as Zaha, they’ll be without up to 10 first team players, including the likes of Wickham, Schlupp, Sakho, Tomkins etc.

Star Man – Eberechi Eze

Played brilliantly against Leeds in their last fixture and has six goal involvements to his name this season.

     Could be an end-to-end match

     Both sides will have chances

With Leeds’ record, a draw is an unlikely result

Leeds will fancy their chances against a Palace side who are missing a huge chunk of their first team squad to injury.

Despite losing their last game, they’ve done well against sides below them in the table, and that is likely to continue here.

Both sides are likely to score, but Leeds are favourites to claim three points.

Leeds to win 2-1
