Leeds return to Premier League action hoping that they can use the remaining nine games of the season to push on up the table into the top half, where they have flirted with for most of the campaign.

Understandably, there have constant ups and downs for the Yorkshire club this season, often switching from a period of good form to an average one, but never failing to entertain fans around the country.

With the other two promoted teams from last season, West Brom and Fulham, currently in the relegation zone, Marcelo Bielsa and his players have done remarkably well to achieve the position they have.

As for Sheffield United, they are still trying to adjust to life without long-term manager Chris Wilder, who left the club just before the International break with the club facing almost certain relegation.

With nothing else to play for other than their pride, can they find something here?

On paper, this looks like a game with very little for both sides to play for.

From Leeds’ point of view, they completed their first task of staying in the division some time ago, but haven’t been able to push any higher than a midtable spot.

For all of their pretty football, they have found consistent results hard to come by this season, though they won’t be disappointed with their position if it stays this way.

Some of their players have become stars this season – Kalvin Phillips started every game for England over the International break, for example.

Here, they have to perfect opportunity to play their way back to form against an out-of-sorts Sheffield United side.

Has been brilliant for Leeds this season, with his six goals making him the club’s second top scorer.

     Have won the last three meetings away to Leeds

     They have nothing more to lose this season

Reasons to be fearful:

     They’ve lost five consecutive away games without scoring

     The division’s lowest scorers

Although Sheffield United have appeared doomed for some time, the decision to depart with Chris Wilder now feels a strange one, considering that no new manager will be able to turn their situation around.

They were shocking in their first match after his departure, a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Leicester, and they were tame in their 2-0 defeat in the FA Cup to Chelsea, too.

Despite this, they still have some hardworking footballers at the club, who will give their all until the end of the season. One of those is John Egan, who has missed the last six weeks through injury, but could be fit enough to return here.

Whether they’ll have enough grit and determination to stop Leeds is another thing.
