As often happens after sacking a manager and bringing a new one in (albeit temporary in this case), Spurs players have increased their performance levels and therefore they’ve hit some good form in recent weeks.

They frustrated Manchester City in large parts in the Carabao Cup final, despite eventually losing 1-0, and have won their two league fixtures under Ryan Mason so far.

Despite this, their best intentions may not be enough to secure a top four position this season, with Chelsea playing brilliantly in 4th place, five points ahead.

As for Leeds, the Yorkshire side have suffered a dip in form in recent weeks, drawing two and losing one of their last three league games after previous enjoying three wins on the bounce.

Now behind Aston Villa in the top half race, Leeds must improve their form with just four games to go. There is plenty at stake for both teams here.

Leeds United Preview

Form Guide (all comps): WWDDL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Great record against the big six teams this season

Just one defeat from their last seven league games

Reasons to be fearful:

Were poor against Brighton last weekend

Have won just one of the last five home games

Leeds’ goal of finishing in the top half of the table has drifted slightly in the past couple of weeks due to a drop in form which has allowed clubs such as Arsenal and Aston Villa to take advantage.

The Peacocks are without victory in their last three, although have suffered defeat just once in their last seven. During that period, they’ve earned draws against Manchester United and Liverpool, as well as taking maximum points from leaders Manchester City.

Unfortunately, Leeds have a mixed record at Elland Road recently, winning just one of their last five, proving that they’ve been a little better on the road this season.

With Spurs now in good form, Leeds will need to return to previous performance levels in order to win here, though their recent games against the big six show that they come alive in the big games.

Star Man – Kalvin Phillips

Is Leeds’ main man in midfield and has helped connect defence in attack well this season.

Tottenham Hotspur FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LDWLW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Won both league games since Mason was appointed caretaker manager

Have scored six games in their last two league games

Reasons to be fearful:

Unlikely to make up five points in four games

Will be a tight game against a strong side

Tottenham are experiencing the new manager boom that often happens when someone new comes in with fresh ideas and appears to have unleashed the players from their woes this season.

Ryan Mason will only be at Spurs temporarily, as manager at least, but he knows the club and has allowed the forward players to express themselves better than Mourinho did towards the end. Gareth Bale’s hattrick in the last game against Sheffield United is evidence of that.

No one will be getting carried away by beating the side bottom of the table, but it’s a start and keeps Spurs in the running for a top four place, although it remains unlikely.

Here, with a front three of Son, Kane and Bale all firing on all cylinders, you would expect Spurs to create a few chances.

Star Man – Gareth Bale

A hattrick against Sheffield United showed the Welshman’s quality is still very much there.

A tight game with few goals

Can Leeds return to scoring form?

Spurs must win to continue European push

Leeds have scored one goal in the last three games and you feel that this will be quite a low scoring game in general, despite Tottenham’s recent upturn in form.

However, Leeds are always entertaining to watch and with Spurs playing better than they have for months, could give us a good game.

It could go either way, but Spurs are favourites to continue their winning form here.

Tottenham to win 2-1
