Manchester City can take another huge step towards winning the title by beating close historic rivals Manchester United this weekend, taking their winning streak to an unrivalled 22 matches.

Pep Guardiola’s men have racked up win after win in both domestic and European competition and, with a 14 point lead, look to have sewn the Premier League title up this season.

Still, with 11 games left, there is no time to take their eye off the ball and will want to put in a top performance against their 2nd placed rivals.

Manchester United have really fallen off the pace recently. With just one win from their last five in the league, including their last two games being 0-0 draws, United have remained 2nd purely due to the lack of consistency from the teams below them.

Should they lose here, Leicester could move ahead of them and the likes of Chelsea, Everton and West Ham could close up behind.

Form Guide (all comps): WWWWW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Are looking unbeatable with a fully fit squad to choose from

Have only conceded eight goals in their 21 game winning streak

Reasons to be fearful:

Have lost three of their last four home games against United

Seven of the last 10 derbies have been won by the away side

City extended their winning streak to 21 games with a 4-1 win against Wolves, but it appeared as though their run would end with the scores level after 80 minutes.

As always with City right now, they find a way to win even when not completely at their best, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Mahrez, Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva and Gundogan all capable of finding the net on a regular basis.

With that win, they overtook Manchester United as the league’s top goal scorers this season, combined with having the meanest defence in the league. Conceding just eight goals during their incredible winning streak is nothing short of exceptional, and they will be terribly hard for United to play against here.

Star Man – Ilkay Gundogan

City’s top scorer this season has enjoyed his previous appearances against United, with two goals and an assist from his three games.

Reasons to be cheerful:

Only side in Europe’s top leagues not to lose an away game this season

Won three of the last four away meetings with City

Reasons to be fearful:

Have played out more 0-0 draws than any other team since Alex Ferguson retired

Dropped points in seven of the last 10 games

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a good managerial record over Manchester City, especially away from home where they have enjoyed the majority of their success this season.

Indeed, they are the only side in a top European division not to lose an away game this season.

Unfortunately, away form alone can’t guarantee you success over the course of a season, and since going top of the league at the start of the year have dropped points in seven of the 10 games they’ve played, including against Sheffield United, West Brom and Crystal Palace in midweek.

Here, against City, they must play a near perfect game to stop their incredible run. It’s unclear whether the injured Paul Pogba will be fit to play a part, but other players will need to step up if they are to improve upon their recent results.

Star Man – Bruno Fernandes

Has recently come under fire for his performance against the bigger teams, but you wouldn’t bet against him pulling a goal or two out of the hat here.

     Manchester City to dominate possession

     Chances at both ends

United must score first to win

Manchester derbies often bring drama in recent seasons, with neither side wanting to let their supporters down.

Only one of these two are likely to win the league this season, but that won’t stop United giving their all here. Unfortunately, their all may not be enough to stop this City run but if they are not careful, they’ll be worried about their spot in the top four.
