Manchester City’s attacking players continued their impressive start to the campaign, although they had to come from behind in their second consecutive game to beat Crystal Palace at the weekend.

They have made a habit of going behind in games and, although Newcastle and Crystal Palace are not to be taken lightly, it has made for an entertaining watch when City need to dig deep to get the result they want.

Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm, as many predicted he would. With another home game here, few would predict anything other than a comfortable City victory.

Nottingham Forest will play the same way in which they always do, however. They gave Tottenham a good run for their money at the weekend, albeit in defeat, and have done well to earn four points so far.

After playing Manchester City, Forest don’t play another Big Six team until 22nd October, when they face Liverpool, so you’d expect them to face this game with nothing to lose.

It should make for an entertaining clash.

Manchester City FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Continue to score goals for fun

Scoring 24 goals in their last six home games

Reasons to be fearful:

Need to stop going behind in games

If they have an off day, Forest could punish them

Manchester City is the express train that just keeps on going right now.

Sure, they dropped two points against a terrific Newcastle side, meaning that they’re two points behind Arsenal at the top of the league, but it only seems realistic that they’ll be challenging throughout the season.

They have a team of world-class superstars, capable of providing goals from any situation and it’s games like this one, against Nottingham Forest, you fear they’ll provide a hammer blow.

We saw Liverpool put nine past a dreadfully poor Bournemouth side at the weekend. While it’s unlikely to be that bad, if City get going here, it could spell danger for a Forest side that have done well up until now.

Other than City’s rampant striker, the likes of Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne continue to ooze class.

Star Man – Erling Haaland

The young goalscoring machine netted a hattrick against Palace at the weekend, making that his 13th by the age of 22. He’s the league’s top scorer, and is likely to end the season that way.

Nottingham Forest FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Played well against Tottenham despite defeat

Forward players are yet to gel despite big-money signings

Reasons to be fearful

To play City at home could end in disaster

Losing despite playing well can dent players’ confidence

Nottingham Forest will have taken heart from the way they played against Tottenham, despite eventually going on to lose 2-0.

Their manager, Steve Cooper has amassed a squad of new signings, with a new player joining in the few days since that match. Renan Lodi has joined on loan from Atletico Madrid, making it Forest’s 18th signing of the window.

Eventually, these signings will need to kick on for the club. Playing well is one thing, but losing when doing so can be confidence-busting. No one wants to come off the pitch having given their all but still lost.

A heavy defeat here, such as the one suffered by Bournemouth at the hands of Liverpool at the weekend, could demoralise the players, as well as send the club into the relegation zone.

They must continue to play in their positive way if they are to achieve anything from this one.

Star Man – Dean Henderson

The Forest keeper was in excellent form against Tottenham, saving a penalty from Harry Kane and playing brilliantly in general. He’ll need one of the games of his life to stop City here.

City will have over 70% possession

The Citizens are likely to score three or more goals

It’ll be a huge confidence boost if Forest can take the lead

As sure as night follows day, City’s attack will rain down on Forest’s defence from start to finish here.

Forest must concern themselves not with possession, but whether they can take their chances on the counterattack.

They have a young, quick team who can cover the pitch with easy, so playing forward with speed is essential to get anything out of the game.

However, you feel a big result is on the cards here, especially with Haaland playing the way he is.
