Manchester City’s runaway train continues to head towards a fifth title in six seasons, after Pep Guardiola’s men swept aside West Ham in midweek.

That 3-0 victory took them to the top of the pile once more, after Arsenal had won their earlier game against Chelsea. City can open up a four-point lead here with a win, although their rivals play a day later.

It’s a thrilling title chase that neutral fans are hoping will last until the end of the season, although few would bet against City retaining their title right now.

Leeds made the high-profile decision to bring Sam Allardyce back into football management this week, with the veteran boss returning to help the Whites secure survival.

Allardyce, in his first press conference as manager, described himself at the same level as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, so he’ll have his chance to prove himself against the former here.

Manchester City FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

     Ten consecutive league victories

Erling Haaland broke the Premier League goals record in a season this week

Reasons to be fearful:

Leeds will be more competitive under Allardyce

One slip-up will allow Arsenal back in

Manchester City had to work hard for their victory over West Ham in midweek, despite how the 3-0 final scoreline makes it seem.

Three second-half goals, including a record breaker from Erling Haaland, were enough to propel City to a fine victory, keeping their slender lead in place over Arsenal.

They can’t afford to be complacent, of course, despite their long-standing winning run right now. All winning runs eventually come to an end, and Guardiola can’t afford for that to happen right now.

City have a good record, unsurprisingly, against Leeds, winning each of their last three while scoring 14 goals and conceding once.

Star Man – Erling Haaland

Now has 35 league goals for the season, breaking the previous record for a Premier League campaign set by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer. Who knows just how many he could chalk up this season?

Leeds United Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Sam Allardyce will toughen this side up

Will feel confidence about staying up this season

Reasons to be fearful

No clean sheets from any of their last 11 in all competitions

A bad time to be playing Manchester City

In what has been a season full of managerial changes across the Premier League, Leeds have added to that by sacking Javi Gracia and bringing Sam Allardyce back into the fold.

Allardyce has one of the most experienced CVs in modern football, especially when it comes to the number of teams he’s managed, and has saved several clubs from relegation during his career.

That will once again be his task here, with Leeds level on points with 18th placed Nottingham Forest. A win would give them some breathing space, but that is unlikely against a City team in top gear.

Allardyce’s first job will be to toughen the team up, having conceded in each of their last 11 games, including 18 from their last five.

With Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham to end the season, things don’t get much easier for Leeds.

Star Man – Wilfried Gnonto

Allardyce believes that Gnonto should have played more in recent games, so expect the Italian to start this game. His pace and trickery from the left could give City something to think about on the counter.

Expect City to have 70% plus possession

An early goal could kill a Leeds revival

Don’t expect Leeds to play open football

Sam Allardyce is known for his tough, direct and hard-to-beat brand of football, so we shouldn’t expect an open game here.

City know that they will dominate possession, as usual, and it’ll just be a question of when, not if, they find a breakthrough.

If they play with their usual intensity, and don’t allow complacency to creep in, Guardiola’s men should win this comfortably.
