Manchester City continue to go from strength-to-strength as the season approaches its business end, with the club motoring on three fronts and going for a historic treble.

Pep Guardiola’s men remain six points behind Arsenal but with a game in hand. City also welcome the Gunners at the Etihad at the end of the month in what will surely be a title showdown.

They also flexed their muscles in the Champions League this week, thrashing Bayern Munich in a dominant 3-0 victory.

Leicester, on the other hand, are preoccupied solely with the prospect of relegation this season. Although they have a fine squad, they just haven’t clicked this season.

Now two points adrift of safety, time is running out for new manager Dean Smith to have an impact, although he impressed for the first part of his time at Aston Villa.

Manchester City FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Have scored 34 goals in their last nine games in all competitions

Won 10 of their last 12 games against Leicester

Reasons to be fearful:

Could European schedule harm Premier League push?

Their opponents will improve under new management

Entering the final stages of the season, it feels very much like the Manchester City machine is well and truly in top gear.

Powering away with five consecutive Premier League wins, an appearance to come in an FA Cup Semi Final, as well as this week’s demolition of Bayern Munich, no one wants to face City right now.

That game against Arsenal later this month is likely to decide the Premier League winners, although City can’t afford to take their eye off the ball in games like this.

Although their opponents are in a patch of dreadful form, a new manager at the helm will bring fresh ideas and a renewed energy.

Positively, Pep has a vast, impressive squad to choose from and could bring in the likes of Walker, Mahrez, Foden and Alvarez as an example of those who sat out in midweek.

Star Man – Erling Haaland

The Norwegian now has more goals in all competitions (45) than any other Premier League player in history. He showed a different side to his game with a lovely assist in midweek.

Leicester City Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Dean Smith’s arrival should bring a fresh approach

Maddison has good form against City

Reasons to be fearful

Five defeats from their last six is the league’s worst form

     Dreadful record against City

Leicester arguably waited too long to appoint a new manager, with only eight games of their season remaining. Things appear to have become stale under Brendan Rodgers, for all his previous success at the club.

Now, Dean Smith must refocus and re-energise his players for a final push over the last seven or eight weeks. Their squad remains worthy of a place in the top half, although their belief disappeared a long time ago.

There are some very winnable games coming up for Leicester, like their clashes with Wolves and Leeds before the end of April, and Everton, Fulham and West Ham next month.

A positive result here feels unlikely, but teams with new managers have done remarkable things before.

Star Man – James Maddison

Maddison has scored away against City in each of the last two seasons, even though Leicester have a poor record at the Etihad.

The home will dominate as usual

Expect Haaland to be on the scoresheet

Leicester must try and repair confidence

Dean Smith will see this almost as a free hit for his Leicester players. They have more winnable games coming up, but if they can repair some of their shattered confidence here, then all the better.

With Maddison, Leicester always have a chance, although getting and keeping the ball will be their main problem.

City are in top gear right now and are expected to win this quite comfortably.
