Erik ten Hag’s revolution at Manchester United continues to pick up speed, with his side picking up another three points against Leicester in midweek.

That win took United up to 5th place, although the other 18 teams will play again before this fixture takes place. Should they win here, they could move into the top four, going just three points behind their opponents.

The manager’s coaching seems to be taking effect and the players now look like a well-drilled unit, rather than a collection of well-paid players.

Arsenal face their first real test of the season so far. Their five wins have shown incredible quality and togetherness, although they have come against sides they would have been expected to beat.

This fixture represents their first against a fellow Big Six team and they will be eager to show their credentials under the spotlight.

Manchester United against Arsenal is one of English football’s greatest fixtures and should be an entertaining clash.

Manchester United FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Could claim four consecutive victories for the first time since April 2021

Antony could make his first appearance since £85m signing

Reasons to be fearful:

Just one win against Arsenal in last eight meetings

They have struggled against the Gunners’ intensity in recent seasons

Manchester United have made several improvements in their last three games, but the one that stands out the most is their togetherness.

They now look like a side willing to work hard for one another, defending as a unit and attacking as one too. Having conceded six goals in their first two games, they’ve gone on to let in just two in their next three matches.

The Red Devils look better going forward as well, and appear to see the benefits of a more youthful front three, leaving superstar Ronaldo on the bench.

Whether they can leave Ronaldo out in a game of such importance, however, will be an interesting point to look out for.

United have a poor record against Arsenal in recent seasons, with their 3-2 win last year their only win in eight.

Star Man – Bruno Fernandes

Seems to relish the captain’s armband and is playing better too. He knits midfield and attack together brilliantly.

Arsenal FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Gabriel Jesus has the quality to trouble United

Have kept a clean sheet in each of their away matches so far this season

Reasons to be fearful

Just one victory at Old Trafford in their last 15 visits

This represents their toughest test so far

Arsenal, alongside Manchester City, appear to be the team to beat right now. Although the season is only five games old, the Gunners have set down a strong marker and deservedly top the Premier League table.

The top four will be their objective this season, although if this form keeps up, they could be challenging for places higher up the table.

Their new signing of Gabriel Jesus looks inspired, players such as Saka, Martinelli and Xhaka are playing their best football in an Arsenal shirt and they are all playing with the intensity that Mikel Arteta demands.

The only criticism of this Arsenal team is that they haven’t played a team of note yet. Should they beat Manchester United, they really will have proven their credentials.

Star Man – Gabriel Jesus

The Brazilian striker has six goal involvements in his first five appearances for Arsenal. He has the movement and the skill to cause United all sorts of problems.

The Old Trafford crowd will drive their team on

Arsenal could start the brighter of the two

Game will come down to who takes their chances

The last time that Manchester United played at Old Trafford, they put on a special display to beat Liverpool, a game that started this revival that has led to three wins on the bounce.

United still have a long way to go in their journey under Erik ten Hag, but a win here would raise the roof at Old Trafford.

Arsenal, however, have a decent record against United in recent seasons. Mikel Arteta’s men play with an intensity that has troubled United before and he’ll be confident they can do so again.

With so many talented players on the pitch, there are bound to be chances at both ends.

It’ll come down to who takes them and who doesn’t.
