With a Europa League final on the horizon, the last thing Manchester United want is for a period of poor form to develop and for confidence to drop, but unfortunately that has been the case for the past week or so.

United’s fixture schedule has been dreadful, to say the least, with the club forced to play four games inside eight days. However, Solskjaer will be disappointed that his side managed just one win from those four games, against Aston Villa.

Following games against Leicester and Liverpool both ended in defeat, with a poor defensive performance at the heart of them. Can they turn it around here?

Fulham know exactly what it means to fall away at the wrong moment, with a run of awful form leading to their relegation just as it appeared they may get themselves out of it.

They’ve lost seven of their last eight, with their performance levels dropping below those of earlier in the season too.

Manchester United FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): WLWLL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Unbeaten against Fulham in their last 13 games

10,000 supporters will cheer them on inside the stadium

Reasons to be fearful:

Lost three of their last five in all competitions

The absence of Harry Maguire is having a huge impact at the back

This round of fixtures marks the first time that Manchester United have had supporters inside Old Trafford in over 12 months.

10,000 Red Devils fans will cheer them on in a massive boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, just as it appeared that they could use something in their favour.

Their usually solid defence has conceded 10 goals from those four games in quick succession, with Harry Maguire missing from the last two. Their captain has been ever-present for them this season, up until his injury, but Solskjaer will need to find an alternative solution to prevent their season from falling apart.

All six league defeats have come at home this season, and they will be determined to prevent that record increasing here.

The strongest team is likely here, with either Eric Bailly or Alex Tuanzebe coming in at the back.

Star Man – Edinson Cavani

Scored against Fulham earlier in the season, and has three in his last six in the league.

Fulham FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LLDLL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Mario Lemina should return to the squad after missing out last week

Could be a good time to face United

Reasons to be fearful:

Only five victories from their 36 games this season

Poor record against United over the years

There is no questioning the disappointment that Fulham will be feeling right now, having come so close to survival, only for their performances levels to inexplicably drop and have it snatched away from them.

Aside from a rare point earned against Arsenal last month, they’ve suffered defeat after defeat since the start of March when they beat Liverpool in one of their best performances of the season.

Indeed, they’ve only secured five wins all season, with their 12 draws the second highest in the league. The ability to convert draws into wins is arguably the reason why Fulham have been relegated and likes of Brighton and Newcastle have survived.

While this may be a good time to play United, with their focus potentially elsewhere, they will be wary of their poor record against them over the years.

Star Man – Bobby Reid

Has suffered recently in terms of scoring goals, but has been Fulham’s best player this season. Can he recover his form here?

     United are heavy favourites

     The Reds should control possession

Return of fans will boost the home team

We cannot underestimate just how much the absence of fans has had on them this season.

10,000 fans will descend on Old Trafford for this game, and they will be cheering United on from start to finish, giving them an undoubted boost.

Fulham could also benefit from the overall atmosphere, and have the incentive of playing United when not at their best.

United are certainly favourites here however, especially if they score early on.
