Manchester United steadied the ship in their recent league game against Crystal Palace, securing a narrow 2-1 victory after dropping five points from their previous two matches.

It was a game that will be remembered most for the sending off of key midfielder Casemiro, who picked up a straight red card and will now miss the next three games.

That said, United are in a great position to put pressure on Manchester City and Arsenal above them. Their home record is superb and won’t want to miss up this opportunity.

On the other hand, Leeds are in a period of turmoil. Having just sacked Jesse Marsch, they must now go through this game, and possibly the reverse fixture against United at the weekend, with no manager.

Defeats in both of those games would almost certainly see the club plunge into the bottom three. While a change of manager can bring about a lift in form, Leeds need something quickly.

Manchester United FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Just one defeat in their last 17 games against Leeds

United have earned 16 points since the World Cup break – a league high

Reasons to be fearful:

Leeds are in a desperate situation which could motivate them

A number of missing players – including Casemiro – is a blow

Manchester United have lost the last two league games that Casemiro hasn’t started – a 6-3 drubbing to Manchester City last year and a narrow 3-2 defeat to Arsenal recently.

Considering that Casemiro now misses the next three games, Erik ten Hag may be left scratching his head wondering how to fill the gap, especially with Christian Eriksen out until May.

Marcel Sabitzer, the Austrian on loan from Bayern Munich, will almost certainly come in alongside Fred in the middle. Scott McTominay is nursing a muscle strain while Donny van der Beek is out for the season.

United have an excellent record over Leeds, losing just one of their last 17 meetings. In their last two games against their Yorkshire rivals, they scored 11 goals.

Bruno Fernandes is a standout in this fixture, with eight goal involvements against Leeds in four appearances.

A win would draw them level on points with Manchester City, but Leeds are never easy to predict.

Star Man – Marcus Rashford

Rashford scored yet another goal in the 2-1 win over Palace recently, marking his 11th from the 13 games since the Premier League restarted. He has also netted in United’s last five home games.

Leeds United Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Change of manager could provide them with a lift

Rivalry against Manchester United should motivate them

Reasons to be fearful

Winless in the last seven league games

Scored in just four of their last six matches

Leeds were poor under Jesse Marsch and it was little surprise to see him face the chopping board, despite his efforts in preventing relegation last season.

There was little to no improvement since he took over from Marcelo Bielsa and the club will now likely appoint a manager with more experience of English football.

In these two games against Manchester United, their fans will want to see that they still have the desire to represent the club, regardless of the man who is coaching them.

Their record is poor, but they have some players who can cause their opponents problems, particularly without Casemiro in midfield.

Robin Koch returns from suspension here, although Rodrigo, Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas remain out.

Star Man – Crysencio Summerville

Summerville has registered three goals and an assist in his five league starts this season. His youth and dynamism should make him a key threat for Leeds.

Manchester United will have most of the possession

Game will have an end-to-end feel about it

     Leeds must play to win

Since returning to the Premier League three seasons ago, Leeds have only played one way – to win football games. Staying tight and looking for a point has not been their mindset.

That must be their way here, going toe-to-toe with Manchester United and hitting them quickly on the break. They have to pace to carve through them if they are accurate with their passing.

The home team are clear favourites to pick up three points, even without the suspended Casemiro. They need to watch out for Leeds on the break but have the players to do so.
