Arsenal’s title chances were left in tatters last weekend as the brilliant Brighton team that has won so many plaudits this season blasted through them in thrilling fashion.

A disappointing end to the campaign will not have been what Mikel Arteta wanted, but his team now need to win to keep themselves in the race, although City can finish it officially with a win over Chelsea 24 hours later.

Their away form has been exceptional this season and there is no reason why the Gunners shouldn’t end the campaign with two wins against Forest and Wolves.

As for Nottingham Forest, they are still battling near the foot of the table and are not quite certain of a place in the Premier League next season.

On 34 points, they are four points clear of danger, although have tough games against the Gunners and Crystal Palace to end on.

Nottingham Forest FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Two wins and a draw from their last four games

Won their last two home games

Reasons to be fearful:

Won just two of their last 10 home meetings with Arsenal

Defeat here could see them dragged back into trouble

There is still work for this Nottingham Forest side to do, despite pulling four points clear of danger with last weekend’s draw against Chelsea.

While it may seem unlikely for the likes of Leeds or Leicester to claim enough points to mount a successful comeback, Forest must still be wary of the challenge they face.

Another point from their remaining two games is likely to be enough, although where will they find that? Here, they face a wounded Arsenal side intent on keeping City honest, while next week they travel to an in-form Crystal Palace.

They have pulled off excellent results at home this season, although it could be unrealistic to expect anything here.

Star Man – Taiwo Awoniyi

Taiwo Awoniyi has scored four goals in his last two Premier League games, as many as he had in his previous 23.

Arsenal FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Failed to score in only one away game this season

A win here will at least keep City honest in title race

Reasons to be fearful

Heavy defeat to Brighton last weekend will be on their minds

Spent 248 days at the top of the league

The Gunners are set to be the first team to have spent as long as they did at the top of the league without winning it.

For a full 248 days, Arsenal sat in pole position before a string of poor results – including a thrashing by City themselves – took them down a peg or two.

Last weekend’s defeat to Brighton made matters worse for Arteta, as he now has a group of players lacking confidence and feeling as though something has been taken away from them.

Positively, Aaron Ramsdale has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract this week, and it appears that Arsenal are preparing a bid for Declan Rice, which would be a club record.

Star Man – Martin Odegaard

Odegaard, like Ramsdale, is set to sign a new deal at the club soon, which would be a reward for an excellent season. The Norwegian has 15 goals and seven assists.

     Arsenal to bounce back strongly

Arteta to make one or two changes

     Forest mustn’t concede early

Arsenal have been the league’s best team away from home this season and the odds are in their favour here. They are expected to bounce back strongly from their disappointing defeat to Brighton last weekend.

Nottingham Forest will use their home support and try and pinch a point, although that is unlikely this weekend.

The Gunners, even if they make one or two changes, should pull through.
