With as many as nine teams battling relegation in the Premier League right now, both Nottingham Forest and Wolves can consider themselves in the thick of it.

Nottingham Forest’s position is the more dangerous of the two, with Steve Cooper’s side facing tougher times in recent weeks.

Forest have just one win since the start of February and their recent run of form has seen them slip from 13th to 16th and slip closer to the danger zone. Can a home win reignite their season?

Wolves have made positive headway under Julen Lopetegui since the Spaniard’s arrival, although they too haven’t enjoyed life recently.

They have a three-point buffer between themselves and the bottom three, but that can be wiped out quickly unless they start to find their feet again.

Nottingham Forest FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Have often been good at home this season

Awoniyi and Kouyate back in full training

Reasons to be fearful:

Striker Chris Wood out injured for rest of season

Injury concerns over the likes of Aurier, Ayew and Scarpa

Nottingham Forest have often shown the best of themselves at home this season, with their form at the City Ground offering hope to Steve Cooper and his men.

On home form alone, Forest would be up in 12th, although that bubble burst recently as Newcastle won 2-1 at the City Ground in the last game.

It looks like a mixed bag on the injury front for Forest. The bad news is that striker Chris Wood, brought in on loan from Newcastle in January, is now out injured for the rest of the season.

Striker Awoniyi and the versatile Kouyate could return here in what would be a boost.

Forest’s record against Wolves is poor, winning one of their last eight against their opponents this weekend.

Star Man – Taiwo Awoniyi

With Brennan Johnson, Forest’s top scorer, potentially out here through injury, Awoniyi may need to return quickly from his own fitness battle to lead the line here.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

     Good record against Nottingham Forest

Scoring goals more freely under Lopetegui

Reasons to be fearful

Lost three of their last four in the league

Won just two of their last 18 away games

Not too long ago, Wolves would have been one of the teams in the bottom half that you felt certain would claim safety this season.

Now, with just 10 games of their season left, the Wanderers are starting to wobble a little. With three losses from their last four, they’ve tasted defeat as much as they did in Lopetegui’s first nine games at the club.

They now need to steady the ship and a trip to Nottingham Forest, a team they have a strong record against, could prove just the ticket.

Wolves have started to score with greater regularity these days – they’ve netted in six of their last eight in the league.

Star Man – Daniel Podence

Wolves’ joint-top scorer can be a tricky customer on any given day but has gone some time without finding the back of the net now. Can he reignite his season here?

     A low-scoring contest

A game that could go to the wire

     Neither team can afford defeat

Like other games between teams near the bottom the league, neither Forest nor Wolves can afford to lose this contest.

Nottingham Forest are in a perilous position and could move into the bottom three with defeat here. Having lost at the City Ground in their last game, is their home advantage still in their favour?

Wolves have been better at finding the back of the net in recent months but they’ve hit on hard times with three defeats from four.

This will be a tight game between two battling teams, but Wolves have the players to edge the win.
