Punjab FC are hoping to build on a string of three consecutive games without a defeat and get the much-awaited first victory of the season. Kerala Blasters, meanwhile, are looking to shake off a disappointing away form when they look to take on Punjab. Even though Kerala Blasters have developed a reputation for being very efficient under Ivan Vukomanovic, they have struggled for decent away results.

Punjab FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Punjab are coming on the back of a first clean sheet in five

Staikos Vergetis witnessed some decent performances out of newcomers in the campaign

Reasons to be fearful

Lack of goals continues to haunt the team

Punjab are a team lacking in confidence

Punjab are still waiting for the first victory of the season, as the team continues to struggle for that elusive victory. The winless run has stretched to 8 matches and the team did not appear close to getting three points in the recent match against East Bengal. The expectations are not high ahead of the game against Kerala Blasters and this is one of the big positives for the team.

There are no injury issues for Staikos Vergetis in the squad.

Star man – Krishnananda Singh

Krishnananda Singh came up with a decent performance against East Bengal, as he was able to get on the end of several good opportunities for his team. The 27-year-old is likely to retain his place on the wings. The winger has come up with one goal from his eight appearances in the campaign.

Kerala Blasters FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Kerala Blasters are the second top scorers in the league so far in the campaign

Kerala Blasters have lost only once in the recent six matches

Reasons to be fearful

Kerala Blasters failed to have any decent opportunity against Goa

The club’s away performance is still woeful

Kerala Blasters are looking to avoid a third consecutive league match without a victory. After having been in a position to extend their lead at the top of the table only a few weeks ago, Ivan Vukomanovic’s team find themselves in a spot where they could even slide down to 4th in the standings. Kerala Blasters only have a three-point advantage over fourth-placed Mumbai City, who have three games in hand. Jaushua Sotirio, Freddy Lallawmawma, Jeakson Singh, and Aibanbha Dohling are injured for the game.

Star man – Adrian Luna

Adrian Luna did not have an exceptional match against Goa, but he has been one of the top players for Kerala Blasters in the 2023-24 season. After having managed a goal contribution on seven occasions in his nine league appearances this season, the player has been averaging a goal contribution every 100 minutes.

Kerala Blasters have been terrible when it comes to away matches. There are also a handful of injury problems that are likely to prevent Kerala Blasters from an all-out offensive display against a struggling Punjab team. The opposition are still without a victory this season, but they are likely to wait a little while longer given that Kerala Blasters can be very hard to break down at the back.
