Sporting Delhi followed up their impressive win over Jamshedpur FC with an emphatic 7-0 demolition of fellow debutants Defenders FC. If Lalrinliana Hnamte stole the show in the opener, this time it was new Brazilian signing Rodriguinho who grabbed the headlines. 

Handed his first start after coming off the bench against Jamshedpur, he exploded into life with five goals, including a hat-trick inside the opening 13 minutes. Mohammed Aimen and Juan Sebastian Peña completed the rout.

Sporting Delhi's dominance was reflected in the numbers, as they enjoyed 66% possession, registered 15 shots on target from 25 attempts and created 23 chances. With two wins from two, the Delhi outfit now need just a draw to seal the knockout spot and win to top Group C

Having last played on July 29, Indian Air Force FT return to action hoping their extended break has not disrupted the momentum from their opening 2-1 win over Defenders FC. For IAFT, Naorem Somananda Singh found the net, while the other came via an own goal, but the scoreline hardly reflected their dominance. IAFT enjoyed 66% possession and registered 20 attempts, although only four were on target.

With Jamshedpur FC and Sporting Delhi subsequently beating Defenders FC by much bigger margins, IAFT may rue their lack of cutting edge in that game. Still, the victory ended their winless run from the previous edition and provided the perfect start. 

However, the real test begins now against two ISL-experienced sides. Sitting third in Group C, IAFT likely need at least a win and a draw from their remaining games to keep their qualification hopes strong, while two wins could put them in contention for top spot.

If last year's tournament is anything to go by, Indian Air Force FT face a daunting task against Sporting Delhi. IAFT suffered heavy defeats to ISL sides Kerala Blasters and East Bengal last edition, both by an 11-1 margin. Their defensive concerns remain evident too, with Defenders FC finding the net against them despite failing to score in either of their other group games.

Sporting Delhi, meanwhile, can approach this clash without the pressure of needing a win, having already put themselves in a strong position at the top of Group C. Considering the gulf in quality and experience, the Delhi outfit look well placed to secure another victory.
