Aston Villa have a great chance to put pressure on top six with tough clash against Sheffield United
Aston Villa to win 1-0
Tournament: Premier League 2020-2021 | Venue: South Yorkshire, Bramall Lane
Bet NowAston Villa have a huge amount of work ahead of them if they are to break into the top six before the end of the season, but they have taken a step in the right direction by keeping themselves in the top half.
A win over Leeds at the weekend took them to within six points of the top four, with Villa still having two games in hand over most of the teams above them.
Their form is patchy, however, with only two wins from their last five games. If they are to push on further ahead, they will need to build greater consistency in their remaining games.
As for Sheffield United, they themselves are fully aware that they will be going down at the end of the season, such has been their disastrous return of just 11 points from 26 matches.
Regardless, they will fight to the end, and they certainly won’t make it easy for Villa here.
Form Guide (all comps): LWLLL
Reasons to be cheerful:
14 of their 21 defeats have been by just a single goal margin
Billy Sharp has been one of the better strikers in the division lately
Reasons to be fearful:
The Blades have failed to score in the last three games
Have won just one of their nine league meetings
There has been a resilience to Sheffield United this season that, even though they have lost a record 21 of their 26 games this season, they’ve fought for every minute of their campaign.
They’ve only been beaten by a single goal in most of their defeats, showing a determination to battle on even if they don’t have the quality to find the net themselves.
Sheffield United have been the lowest scorers this season, though a player who has continued to impress in that department for them is veteran Billy Sharp, who has five goals in his eight home appearances this season, including in each of his last three starts at Bramall Lane.
Against Aston Villa, they have literally nothing more to lose, and should go out there and play with the same determination that they have all season.
Star Man – Billy Sharp
In what could be his last season in the Premier League, the 35 year old is enjoying one of the best spells of form of his career.

Reasons to be cheerful:
Could still reach European spots this season
Have kept three consecutive away clean sheets
Reasons to be fearful:
Still without the injured Jack Grealish
Have failed to score more than a single goal in their past six games
Currently, there appears to be an inconsistency about Aston Villa which will prevent them from securing a European spot for next season.
Two wins from five does not normally make for fantastic form, though if Villa can pull a string of good results together, particularly with their games in hand, they could surprise one or two people.
Their away record has been pretty good too, keeping an unrivalled eight clean sheets on their travels and in general have been good at shutting teams out on their way to victory.
They remain without captain Jack Grealish, who has missed the last three games, one of which they’ve taken three points from.
Star Man – Anwar El Ghazi
He scored the winner against Leeds last weekend and has seven goals to his name this season.
Villa are favourites though it’ll be close
Sheffield United have nothing to lose and will be confident
Likely to be just a single goal in it
The stats show that this is destined to be a tight game.
With most of Sheffield United’s defeats coming by a single goal, and Villa finding the net no more than once over the past six games, there are unlikely to be too many goals in this one.
Villa are favourites to take the win, but as Sheffield United have shown, they won’t go down lightly.
Aston Villa to win 1-0
