Of all the games to cause a surprise result in the Round of 16, very few were predicting that it would be Switzerland to knock out World Cup holders and favourites for the tournament France.

The courage that they showed when losing 3-1 with just 15 minutes to go was extraordinary and taking the game to extra time was nothing more than they deserved. After a goalless extra time period, they beat the French on penalties in the most dramatic fashion.

Can they knock out another huge opponent here?

Spain were also taken to an added 30 minutes after another topsy turvy match containing eight goals in total. Croatia took the lead, before the Spanish hit back and scored three goals and appeared on the verge of a comfortable end to the game.

In true entertaining spirit, Croatia scored twice in the final five minutes of the game to take it to extra time.

Will we have more drama here?

Switzerland Preview

World Ranking: 13

Best Historical Finish at the Euros: Round of 16

Reasons to be cheerful:

Huge win over France is the biggest result in their history

Have showed that they can cause any side problems

Reasons to be fearful:

Just one win over Spain from last 22 meetings

Granit Xhaka suspended following two bookings

Switzerland’s confidence will be sky high right now, having knocked out the reigning World Champions in a competition which they were expected to win.

Being the underdog clear suits Switzerland, and they will be so again here against a free scoring Spain side. They have already reached the furthest stage of the Euros in their history, and they won’t want to stop just yet.

However, their record against Spain is poor. Just one victory from their 22 meetings, suffering defeat on 16 occasions.

While the Swiss have now lost just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, it’ll be a tall order to knock out two heavyweights in quick succession. They’ll certainly try, however.

Star Man – Haris Seferovic

His two brilliantly taken goals against France proved his worth as a central striker. His power in the air can cause the Spanish some problems.

Spain Preview

World Ranking: 6

Best Historical Finish at the Euros: Winners, 1964/2008/2012

Reasons to be cheerful:

Have now scored 10 goals in their last two games

     Great record over Swiss

Reasons to be fearful:

Have lost five of their previous eight quarter finals at the Euros

Almost threw the game away against Croatia

After the goalscoring woes earlier on in the competition, Spain have well and truly arrived as a threat going forward, in addition to their pretty passing patterns.

Despite going into a 3-1 lead over Croatia, they almost threw the game away by conceding twice within the last five minutes. These defensive weaknesses are almost always present within this Spanish team, and they will fear that the Swiss can take them apart.

That said, with 10 goals scored from their last two matches, they are hitting their stride going forward. Alvaro Morata seems to have found his touch in front of goal, while others such as Torres and Sarabia are chipping in.

They are favourites here, which may or may not help them.

Star Man – Alvaro Morata

For a guy who has struggled to find the net this tournament, he took his goal sensationally well in extra time against Croatia. Can he fire them on again?

Spain will boss possession as always

     Switzerland can break quickly

Game could have late drama once again

With 14 goals netted in the games involved these two teams in the Round of 16, we hope for more of the same here.

Spain appear to have found their golden touch in front of goal, but we know that the Swiss can cause plenty of problems of their own.

It’ll be a tough test for Spain, but one which they should be able to handle.

Spain to win 2-1
