Tottenham continued their unbeaten start to the season against West Ham, although dropped points against their London rivals in a close draw.

Spurs remain in the top three of the Premier League, two points behind Manchester City and four behind leaders Arsenal.

Here, they face another London club in Fulham, and they will want to return to winning ways as quickly as possible, especially with Liverpool on their tails and City and Arsenal winning above them.

Fulham have been more impressive than many thought they would be from their first five games. They’ve picked up two wins and two draws, with their one defeat coming against league leaders Arsenal.

Star striker Mitrovic has been in inspired form so far, and Spurs will need to be on their toes to stop him from continuing that here.

Tottenham Hotspur FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Conte’s style of football makes it very difficult to beat Spurs

     Kane is in exceptional form

Reasons to be fearful:

Showed little creativity against West Ham

Defenders could struggle against the power of Mitrovic

Tottenham possess an excellent squad right now, one capable of challenging for the top four of the Premier League this season.

What they lack compared to other big teams is a creative midfield player who can unlock defences in the tightest of games, such as the one against West Ham the other night.

Hojbjerg and Bissouma, the two starting midfielders against the Hammers, are terrific workers and very hard to play against, but they offer little going forward. They could have done with signing a creative player in the transfer market, but that looks unlikely at the time of writing.

However, they do have quality players at the top end of the pitch, in particular Kane, Son and Kulusevski, backed up by Richarlison on the bench.

That quartet will score goals this season, but will it be enough to challenge at the top end?

Star Man – Harry Kane

Tottenham’s talisman continues to play at his peak, with four goals so far this season. He missed out against West Ham, but that will make him more determined here.

Fulham FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Mitrovic has outmatched Kane for goals so far

The squad is much improved from their last season in the Premier League

Reasons to be fearful

Will find it difficult to play their way through Spurs

Marks the start of a tough run for Fulham in the league

Fulham have made an impressive start on their return to the Premier League, having been disappointed the last time they were in the top division two seasons ago.

They have a distinct, traditional style of play with Mitrovic as their target man, with some hardworking players, such as Pereira and Palhinha in midfield.

This is the start of a tricky run of games for the Cottagers, in truth. Spurs are followed by Chelsea, fellow promoted side Forest, in-form Newcastle and a revived West Ham team.

How they fare across those games will shape how they look going into the November World Cup.

Against Spurs, they won’t find it easy to play the ball into Mitrovic, as they have done so well this season. They will be without the ball for large periods of the game, so must use it effectively when they have it.

Star Man – Alexander Mitrovic

With five goals to his name, the Serbian striker has outscored everyone apart from Erling Haaland. He is key to Fulham’s hopes this season, as well as against Spurs.

Tottenham will control most of the possession

Kane and Mitrovic to both have chances

Could be a close game heading into the final 10 minutes

Of the two teams, Tottenham are under the most pressure to find a way to find and keep up the pace at the top of the table, especially in front of their home fans.

Fulham won’t want to lose this game, but know that they can afford to give Tottenham the ball and make it hard for them to break the Cottagers down. Hitting Spurs on the counter could be a successful strategy.

Spurs are certainly favourites here, especially if they get their noses in front early, but it could be a close game.
