Both West Ham and Leicester have been brilliant teams to watch this season, guided by two experienced managers at the peak of their powers.

For West Ham to go from relegation candidates last season, to the highest-placed London team before the start of the weekend is a fabulous achievement.

Whether or not David Moyes’ men can hold onto it is another question. They’ve suffered a couple of injury blows over the past couple of weeks, with first Declan Rice and then Michail Antonio being ruled out for some time. How will they cope here?

Leicester know all about chasing a top four spot, having been in this exact position last season, only to blow it on the final day.

This time around, they seem far more secure and although their place isn’t a certainty yet, they are the better placed of the two to finish in a top four position.

West Ham United FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): LWLDW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Great result against Wolves last weekend

Only the top three have won more games than the Hammers this season

Reasons to be fearful:

Missing two key players for the run in

Leicester are a very difficult side to play against right now

It will have come as a huge blow to David Moyes to have lost both Declan Rice and Michail Antonio to injury in quick succession.

Both players have been instrumental for the club this season, and although Antonio has already missed some of the campaign, his goals when he has been fit have secured vital wins for the club.

Nevertheless, they were mighty impressive against Wolves last week, going 3-0 up early on in the match, despite having to hang on for victory in the end. Jesse Lingard has been sensational since joining on loan, and the likes of Fornals, Bowen and Soucek have all chipped in.

Leicester will be a much different opponent of course. Should they lose here, they may find it difficult to recover.

Star Man – Jesse Lingard

What a player this lad has been since joining on loan from Manchester United. He scored his sixth goal in eight appearances against Wolves.

Leicester City Preview

Form Guide (all comps): DWWWL

Reasons to be cheerful:

Defeat to Man City was only their third in 2021

James Maddison could be fit enough to return to action

Reasons to be fearful:

Were thrashed by West Ham earlier in the season

Have slipped up from this position before

Leicester have been consistently brilliant all season, and alongside a top four position, have a fantastic opportunity to reach the final of the FA Cup, when the face Southampton in the semis next weekend.

Other than that defeat to Manchester City last weekend, where in truth they were outclassed, Leicester have been as solid as a rock recently, winning five of their last nine games to further cement their 3rd place position.

True, they have slipped four points behind Manchester United in 2nd, but if they can secure a top four finish this season, it will make up for the disappointment of missing out last campaign.

Crucially, they are seeing some key players return to action, with James Maddison looking to make his first start in six league games following injury.

Star Man – Kelechi Iheanacho

Is in great form currently, despite not scoring against his old club City last weekend.

Should be a great game of football

Both sides should go for the win

Could be settled by one goal either way

The outcome of this game won’t settle league positions for definite, but it would make it much harder for West Ham to land a top four spot should they end up on the losing side.

Leicester will want to go for the victory, firstly to try and catch Manchester United, and secondly to make sure they don’t get dragged into a top four battle themselves.

It should be a cracking game, though Leicester have the slightly better team.

Leicester to win 2-1
