Wolves and Burnley are two sides with different priorities right now.

For the home side, sitting in 12th with 41 points, there is little left for them to achieve this season, with a top half position unlikely and sitting more than comfortably in terms of relegation.

They have improved recently, too, with wins from their last two games, albeit against bottom three sides Sheffield United and Fulham.

With several of their key players missing, through injury or otherwise, they are a team always hard to predict in games against similarly tough opposition.

Burnley are now the next-closest team to the bottom three, after Newcastle found some form recently to move up the table.

They have lost their last three games in the league and, while they are still six points ahead of the danger zone, will want to put as much distance between themselves and Fulham as possible.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): DLLWW

Reasons to be cheerful:

Could win three on the bounce for first time this season

Adama Traore has hit good form recently

Reasons to be fearful:

Would need to win all six remaining fixtures to hit last season’s points tally

Have won only one of their last nine meetings with Burnley

Wolves have suffered through a largely disappointing season by their recent standards, sitting down in 12th when their two previous campaigns have ended within the top seven positions.

They would need to win all six of their remaining games this season to match their total points tally from last campaign.

The injury to Raul Jimenez has played a large role in that, however on the whole they have struggled to score goals and control matches as they used to do.

They have won back-to-back games for the third time this season, however they have not won three on the bounce since last June, and they’ll find Burnley a tough nut to crack here.

Ruben Neves continues his isolation from Covid-19 here, with Neto also sidelined.

Star Man – Adama Traore

Has three goal contributions in his last three league appearances.

Burnley FC Preview

Form Guide (all comps): DWLLL

Reasons to be cheerful:

     Good record over Wolves

Nick Pope is expected to be fit to return in goal

Reasons to be fearful:

     Lost their last three games

Just two wins from their last 13

Just like Newcastle found form and pulled away from the bottom three, Burnley will look to do the same now that they are the side closest to the danger zone.

They have a six point gap, which should be enough with Fulham suffering through such poor form right now, but the Clarets won’t want to leave that to chance

Burnley have a relatively kind fixture list coming up, with Fulham, Leeds and Sheffield United all lower half teams coming up from the remaining six games.

They’ve only claimed two victories from their last 13 games, but had appeared reasonably solid at the back until recently, where they’ve conceded at least two goals in their last three matches.

Nick Pope is expected to return in goal here after injury, although Ashley Barnes remains out.

Star Man – Chris Wood

The big centre forward gave Manchester United a hard game last weekend, and will aim to do the same here.

     An evenly matched contest

A game low on clear chances

More at stake for Burnley than Wolves

At this stage of the season, the side who has more riding on the result usually wants victory more.

Burnley are not in desperate trouble of slipping into the bottom three, but they would love to pick something up here to put more of a gap between them and Fulham.

Wolves are in better form right now, but haven’t performed too well against Burnley in the past. Could finish all square.
