With four wins from their last five in the Premier League, Tottenham have worked themselves back into a top-four position and they look in a strong place to hold onto it.

Their 2-0 victory over Chelsea last weekend showed the gap between the two clubs right now and, even though Antonio Conte has had to take a few weeks away to recover from surgery – Spurs are looking strong.

Their main disappointment this week will have been dropping out of the FA Cup in dismal fashion, losing to Championship side Sheffield United. It was arguably their best chance of a trophy this season.

Wolves have hit a stumbling block of late, it would seem. Things had started to look up for Wanderers fans since the appointment of Julen Lopetegui and the club still sits in 15th place.

However, with two defeats from their last three, the club remains just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful:

Earned an important point away to high-flying Fulham last weekend

Won two of their past three home games

Reasons to be fearful:

However, they lost their most recent game at Molineux, to Bournemouth

And they haven’t won any of their last six home games against Spurs

Wolves are looking a solid bet to stay up right now.

They have an experienced manager who has taken charge of Real Madrid and Spain in the past and collection of players who can create chances against most teams.

Unfortunately, they still lack a top-class striker who can finish these chances off. In their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup this week, they create several decent opportunities that went begging.

Their form against Spurs is poor in recent history, having won none of their last six meetings at home.

A win here could lift them up to 13th in the table, although defeat would leave them right in the relegation mix once again.

Star Man – Pablo Sarabia

Sarabia has popped up with timely contributions since his arrival in the January transfer window and is now a key asset in Wolves’ midfield.

Tottenham Hotspur FC Preview

Reasons to be cheerful

Have won four of their last five in the league

And, they’ve kept a clean sheet in all of those victories

Reasons to be fearful

FA Cup defeat in midweek shows weakness of this side

The likes of Newcastle and Liverpool can still catch them in the top four

Under the stewardship of Christian Stellini, Tottenham have rebounded from a poor start to 2023 and risen up into the top four.

Although Antonio Conte has been missed during his recovery from surgery, the Tottenham manager will have been pleased with results throughout his absence.

Should they win here, Spurs will go within a point of Manchester United in 3rd although the Red Devils will then have two games in hand.

They have an excellent record against Wolves over the years, although you still can’t rule out poor performances from Spurs as their defeat in the FA Cup demonstrates.

Star Man – Harry Kane

Yet another goal for Kane in their win over Chelsea last weekend took his tally to 20 for the season. He continues to drag this team forward even when the rest of the team look on their knees.

     Should be a tight game

Spurs have been excellent away to Wolves in recent years

     Kane to score or assist

This has the makings of an intriguing game of football.

Wolves have become a very good footballing side, playing the ball through midfield and creating chances in front of goal. If they become better at taking those chances, they’ll rise up the table quickly.

Tottenham, especially with Harry Kane, are ruthless in front of goal and only need one or two chances to find the net.

This should be a close encounter and a point could suit both teams.
