Former champions Bengaluru Bulls were stunned by the Bengal Warriors while Dabang Delhi was smashed by a young and vibrant Tamil Thalaiva. Both teams have been former champions but looks like season 10 is going to be turbulent for them.
Bengaluru Bulls played quite well in their first bout, but lost steam in the dying moments of the match against the Warriors. Their inability to score quickly in the first half cost them the match. Though this was just their first game of the season, the Bulls have to regroup quickly as they take on Dabang Delhi.
Delhi looked out of sorts in their match against the Thalaiva. Their over dependence on Naveen Kumar is a major weakness. Naveen scored a Super 10 while Ashu Malik scored 9 points. But their defense could not stop Ajinkya Pawar from scoring a 21 points. This resulted in the Bulls losing by just 2 points.
Bengaluru has dominated Dabang over the years as they beat them thrice last season. Dabang Delhi will hope that their defense recharges itself as the raging Bulls won’t be easy to stop.
Former champions Bengaluru Bulls play with a lot of flair. They have a trio of raiders in the form of Vikash Kandola, Bharat Hooda and Neeraj Narwal. They have some big names in their defense in the form of Surjit Singh, Captain Aman and Saurabh Nandal. Bulls are known to be slow starters but this season they may have to change their approach.
They bought raider Vikash Kandola at the recently held auctions for a handsome amount. But he could not perform as per expectations earning just 3 points against the Bengal Warriors. Raider Bharat Hooda and Neeraj Narwal played well but the Bulls will expect this trio of raiders to earn at least 20-25 points in each game.
The Bengaluru Bulls had another issue, their defense faltered at crucial moments and could not resonate. Captain Aman who plays in the left corner position could not combine quite effectively with right cover Surjit. Defender Saurabh Nandal was out of sorts as he could not even open his account. Saurabh played a decisive role for the Bulls last year.
Bengaluru used the services of all-rounder Sachin Narwal who did well in the limited opportunities he got. The Bulls need to pull up their socks and they have a golden chance to score their first points as they take on Dabang Delhi.
Though Dabang has troubled the Bulls over the years, Bengaluru beat them thrice last year which included the eliminator. Bengaluru have won 9 out of their 20 encounters while 2 matches ended as a TIE. Coach Randhir Singh Sehkhawat has been with the team for a few season and under his guidance the Bulls won the Championships in season 6. Randhir Singh will be worried about the fact that his trio of raiders were kept off the field by the opposition for most of the match. This affected their scoring resulting in the Bulls losing their first game.
Bengaluru needs to get its act together very quickly as they face Dabang Delhi which is grappling with its own defensive issues.
Dabang Delhi have performed very well for the past 3 seasons. They were runners-up in season 7 in 2019, lifted the trophy in season 8 in 2021 and reached the eliminator last year. They were troubled due to the freak injury to star Naveen Kumar, but they continued performing well.
But Delhi had an inauspicious start to their campaign this year. They ran into the Tamil Thalaiva who thrashed them by 9 points. They trailed through the match conceding 2 all-outs which kept them out of contention. Star raider Naveen Kumar and Ashu Singh scored 23 points collectively, but their defense let them down.
Defenders Vishal Bharadwaj, Meetu Sharma, Yogesh and Himmat Antil could not complement each other. Right cover Mohit too was out of form. This resulted in the Tamil Thalaiva scoring 24 raid points in the second half of the match. Dabang Delhi tried too many combinations in their defense which resulted in a false start. But they won’t be too worried as this is a long season.
Dabang Delhi is coached by the experienced Ram Singh Khokar who will come up with new defensive combinations to support Naveen Kumar. Unfortunately Delhi has not beaten the Bengaluru Bulls since the semi-finals of season 8 as they lost both their both their league games to the Bulls last year. Dabang went on to lose the eliminator of season 9 to the Bulls too. Dabang Delhi has always given a tough fight to Bengaluru Bulls, but whenever they have lost it has been a huge margin.
As Dabang look to earn their first points of season 10, they are up against a formidable opponent who is sailing in a similar boat.
This encounter will be a memorable one for all the fans as both teams are looking to earn their first points of the season. Naveen Kumar will excel and score a big Super 10 while Ashu Malik will be effective. Left cover Himmat Antil will be useful but Vishal Bhardwaj may commit few unforced errors.
Dabang Delhi may try and surprise the Bulls with quick raids early in the first half, but they will slow down as half-time approaches. Coach Ram Singh Khokar will try new defensive combinations to earn more tackle points.
Bengaluru Bulls will go with their trusted trio of Vikash Kandola, Bharat Hooda and Neeraj Narwal. They will earn over 25 raids points for their team. Left corner Captain Aman will attack Naveen Kumar early to keep him off the mat. He will be supported veteran Surjit. IF defender Saurabh Nandal is able to get back in form, the Bulls will roll over Dabang Delhi.
The team is evenly matched in its raiding prowess, but the one who will commit the least unforced errors will win the match.
Bengaluru Bulls will win.
