Former champions Bengaluru Bulls are having a torrid time on the mat as they have lost their first 3 games of the season. They lost their first match to the Gujarat Giants followed by a close loss to the Bengal Warriors. Unfortunately their woes continued against Dabang Delhi as they lost the match by a margin of 7 points. Their biggest concern is their earning through raids. Vikash Kandola was bought at a hefty price during the auctions but he has looked out of sorts in the first 3 matches. 

On the other hand, the Haryana Steelers got a wake-up call in their first bout as they were knocked out by the UP Yodha. Haryana lost the match by a huge margin of 30 points. Though this was their first match of the season, the impact of this loss will be irreparable. The Steelers have a chance to make amends as they will take on the out of form Benglauru Bulls. 

This will be a high scoring match as both teams have shown the tendency of making unlimited unforced errors.

Bengaluru Bulls Preview

Former Champions Bengaluru Bulls have been a pale shadow of themselves. They have lost their first three matches and their fans seem to be confused in terms of what is happening to their team. The Bulls had a decent run in season 9 as they reached the play-off. They were consistent and effective with their tactics. 

Season 10 has exposed several of their weaknesses. First of all they seem to be very predictable. They lost their first bout to the Gujarat Giants even after leading at half-time. They suffered an all-out in the second half which took the game away. Then they lost to the Bengal Warriors, a match they should have won. The Bulls suffered another defeat at the hands of Dabang Delhi and hence the chinks in their armor are exposed.

Their biggest concern is the lack of form of raider Vikash Kandola. Vikash had a wonderful season last year with the Haryana Steelers. Unfortunately he has not been able to recreate that magic. Hence the entire burden of raiding has come on Bharat Hooda. Bharat has scored 23 raid points in 3 matches from 19 successful raids. 

Captain Saurabh Nandal and veteran Surjeet too are running out of gas. Left corner Aman has done well in phases. Coach Randheer Singh Sehkhawat has made too many changes throughout the 3 games as the Bulls have not been able to settle in a decent rhythm.  Being too predictable has been another problem for Bengaluru. 

They will be up against the Haryana Steelers who got a 30 point drubbing in their first match. This could be the opportunity for the Bulls to get their house in order and open their account in this season. 

Bengaluru Bulls have won 5 out of their 8 encounters, but most of the games have been low scoring ones. Both the league games last year between the Bulls and the Steelers were close calls and one can expect this one to go down the wire.

Haryana Steelers Preview

One of the most vibrant teams of the PKL got a wake-up call in their first match as they were hammered by the UP Yodha. The margin of victory for UP was 30 points and this is enough to indicate that the Steelers were still sleepy as they entered the mat. Star raider Siddharth Desai was slow off the blocks and could not set the mat on fire. He was quite comfortably tackled by the opposition, forcing coach Manpreet to fall back on other options. 

Haryana Steelers have always used team effort to fox their opponents. They have been vibrant and tactically superior in most of their games. But season 10 expects them to innovate. The Steelers were stunned by the relentless attack of the Yodha in their last game. They trailed by 15 points at half-time. Their raiding efficiency was just 23% which pushed them on the back foot. Their defense too looked listless as they could execute just 9 successful tackles out of their total 31. They did execute 3 Super tackles but that was not enough.

One of the best defenders of season 9, Captain Jaideep was off the mat for a considerable amount of time. The Steelers conceded 4 all-outs in the entire match as they looked completely hypnotized by the UP Yodha. But Haryana will have to reboot and bounce back. 

The Steelers bought star raider Siddharth Desai for 1 Cr in the auctions. Siddharth was the MVP a few seasons back when he made his PKL debut for U Mumba. He was troubled by injuries and lack of form last year when he was with the Telegu Titans. Siddharth has a terrific opportunity to combine with tactically brilliant coach like Manpreet to resurrect his PKL career.

The Steelers have a good bunch of defenders who can help them recharge. Right cover Mohit Nandal scored a Hi 5 while his team was getting hammered by the Yodha. Right corner Rahul Sethpal and left corner Mohit were impressive. Hence Haryana needs to just concentrate on its earning via raids. 

The Steelers can make a grand comeback as they take on the Bengaluru Bulls who have struggled in their first 3 games.

Winning Prediction

This might not be a high scoring encounter as the Haryana Steelers will play it safe. The Bengaluru Bulls will unleash raider Bharat Hooda and expect Vikash Kandola to play the side-kick. They will use the services of backup raiders like Akshit and Sushil early in the first half. Captain Saurabh Nandal will be back to his consistent tackling as he will target Siddharth Desai. Covers Surjeet and Vishal will be prone to unforced errors and the Bulls may have to pay the price for this. 

The Haryana Steelers will slow down the game till halftime and give enough opportunity to raider Siddharth Desai to settle down. All-rounder Ashish and raider Vinay will support Siddharth while defender Mohit Nandal will target Bharat Hooda along with captain Jaideep Dahiya. The Steelers will attack post half-time to set the cat among the Bulls. If the Bulls panic, the Steelers will loot them setting up the match.

The first half will be slow, while the second half will be full of fireworks.
