Bengaluru Bulls will be cursing themselves as they could not maintain the intensity in their last game against the UP Yodha. They were trailing in the first half but came back strongly only to lose the game by a margin of 7 points. The bulls have maintained a decent record this season with 2 wins out of 4 games. The Bengaluru Bulls are cruising nicely as this is just the early part of the season. Raiders Vikash Kandola and Bharat have a combined score of 69 raid points which has helped the Bulls in most of the games.
Tamil Thalaiva has been going through an emotional roller coaster as they lost Pawan Sherawat to a freak injury in their first game and then they lost back-to-back matches. At last, they tasted success as they beat the fancied Patna Pirates by a solitary point. This will trigger the necessary emotions in the Thalaiva camp. Young raiders Himanshu Singh scored a Super 10 while Narender was consistent as usual. Thalaiva fans will be very happy to see their team back in action as they chant “ Namma Mannu Namma Game”.
A “Full Charged Maddi” Bulls team is very dangerous as they can thrash any opposition on a given day. Bengaluru Bulls have had a decent run this season as they lost just 2 out of their 4 games. They may not have a lot of big players this season but the expectations of the fans are growing bigger by the day.
Raider Vikash Kandola and Bharat have settled into a fruitful partnership while Neeraj Narwal has given adequate support. Defenders Saurav Nandal and Aman have been in great touch as they have conducted 20 successful tackles together in 4 games. The Bulls were able to beat the Telegu Titans and Puneri Paltan comfortably in their first 2 games. But they seem to have hit a roadblock as they have lost back-to-back games.
First, it was the Bengal Warriors who tamed them, and then they were taken for a ride by the UP Yodha. In both games, it was their defense that underperformed. The Bulls have a wonderful opportunity to earn a massive win against their arch-rivals, Tamil Thalaiva.
The Bengaluru Bulls have conceded 154 points in 4 games which is on the higher side. They have inflicted 6 all-outs but have conceded 7. This gets them back to square one after all the hard work. The Bulls enjoy a great record against the Thalaiva as they have lost just 2 out of their 10 games. They lost to the Thalaiva once in season 5 and again in the last season. They cannot take the Thalaiva lightly as a loss against them will send the Bulls into the black hole.
Tamil Thalaiva fans will be elated to know that Pawan Sehrawat is in a speedy recovery mode. Coach Udaya Kumar had some good news for everybody earlier this week. Though he was hopeful of getting Pawan Sehrawat back on the mat very soon, he also cautioned that Pawan is very important for them as well as the entire nation, hence they will take all the necessary steps for rehab and getting him back to match fitness.
This augurs well for the Thalaiva as they seem to have warmed up to this news with a win over the Patna Pirates. It was a hard-fought game and the Thalaiva held its nerves to win by a point. This will give a boost to the players as they have not been able to deliver at their full potential. Impressive has been the fact that in the last game against the Pirates, raiders Himanshu Singh Kandola and Narender took the responsibility of earning points for the team. If the Thalaiva can do this regularly they will take off the pressure from Pawan as and when he returns.
Corners Sagar and Sahil Gulia are weathered defenders as they tenaciously keep performing even on bad days. 23-year-old Sagar had an impressive season 8 where he was among the top defenders of the season. In Season 9 he has 11 tackle points in 4 games.
The other players need to take a leaf out of their book and look at this season as their renaissance period. The Thalaiva has never dominated the PKL. They are used to living below the poverty line in the points table. They do not have a great record against the Bulls, but the Thalaiva needs to win this one not just for their fans but for their teammate Pawan Sehrawat.
This will be a lip-smacking contest as a Full Charge Maddi team takes on the Namma Mannu Namma Game party. Tamil Thalaiva has found new raiding weapons in the form of Himanshu Kandola and Narender. Both can trouble the Bengaluru defense which has been brittle at times. Defenders Abhishek and Mohit have to reduce their unforced errors and support Sagar. They are capable of precise moves as they will target Vikash Kandola especially.
Bengaluru Bulls will have to be careful as they seem to have short-term memory loss once in a while. Vikash Kandola and Bharat will target defenders Abhishek and Visvanath to build pressure early in the first half. Left cover Mahendra Singh will be crucial for the Bulls as he has been guilty of advanced tackles.
Both teams are on the cusp of something big, Bulls need to dominate the game, while the Thalaiva should make sure that they don’t lose intensity very early in the game.
Bengaluru Bulls will win.
