Bengaluru Bulls Preview

Bengaluru Bulls are placed 2nd in the points table after 16 games with 46 points. But they got a double blow as they got some pasting from U Mumba and Tamil Thalaiva. They have lost 7 out of their 16 games and cannot afford to lose any further. While most of the teams have struggled with the fitness of their players in this hectic season, the Bulls have had no major injury scares. Hi Flyer Pawan Sehrawat has been a chartbuster with 207 raid points including 12 Super raids. He has been the flag-bearer for the Bulls throughout this season. But it is their defense which punctured in the last 2 games. While the raiders continued to earn points, the defense was not able to trap opposition raiders.

They earned just 6 tackle points against the Thalaiva and 7 tackle points against U Mumba. So even if Pawan, Chandran Ranjit, Bharat and other raiders earn points regularly, their in-house income is very low.

They cannot afford such unhealthy defense against the UP Yodha.

The Bulls are a high maintenance team as they have conducted 296 successful raids out of their 662 team raids.

After a hat-trick of victories, the UP Yodha suffered a double blow as they lost to the Haryana Steelers and then to the Puneri Patlan. In both cases, it was their defense which failed. This will be a tough match for the Yodha's as they take on the Bulls who themselves were hurt by the Tamil Thalaiva.

Pardeep Narwal has settled into a decent rhythm this season though he has not been in devastating form. It is Surender Gill who has turned out to be the real Yodha as he has harvested points at will. In the last few games he has executed daring raids where he has pulled 2-3 defenders towards the mid-line thus displaying his raw power. He has thus conducted 6 Super raids. Surender has earned 116 raid points from just 86 successful raids. His strike rate makes it easier for the UP Yodha to score points quickly.

But the defense has been a problem in the last couple of games. Though defender Sumit is in the top 10 list, the UP defense failed to capitalize on the good show put up by their raiders. While they have executed 237 successful team raids out of 590 team raids, they have conceded 493 points in all. The Yodha were able to remain in the top 6 due to their defense as they have executed 18 Super tackles which is the highest in the season. But this performance has been visible in the last 2 games. They have a great chance to win a big game as they have tamed the Bulls earlier too. Trap Pawan early, reduce your unforced errors and do no panic, that is the mantra for success.

Both the teams had their tires punctured while they were cruising on the mat. The Bulls lost steam in their defense while the UP Yodha had technical snags. Both teams cannot afford any further dip in their form. While Pawan Sherawat has been extremely effective, he has been isolated quite often by the opposition. In this case, the Bulls are not able to earn a bounty. The UP Yodha have give Pardeep Narwal a specific role and Surender Gill leads the raiders. But the UP Yodha has suffered catastrophic breakdown in his defense early in the first half as well as late in the match. They will have to be careful against the Bulls who will try and dominate them very early.

This will be a face-off between Pawan Sehrawat and Surender Gills. It will be a display of Pawan's delicate touch points as well as Surender's power raiding.
