This season has seen many shades of kabaddi. The defending Champions are getting into rhythm late into the tournament while the Fortune Giants have had a roller coaster ride. They were clueless in the first half of the season, than they were struck by Covid and now they have their task cut out. But they made a comeback of sorts as they beat the Haryana Steelers in their last game. They take on the defending champions with 24 hours of that courageous victory.  Both teams have won 2 out of their last 3 games and both will look forward to outclass each other. Raider Pardeep Kumar was the surprise package for the Fortune Giants as he got 10 points against the Steelers along with veteran Ajay who also scored a Super 10. This harvest has come after a very long time for the Fortune Giants. They will need this once again in this match. Bengal Warriors got a forced break due to the pandemic and they will be playing their 15th game after a gap of 7 days. This is expected to be another thrilling contest as Bengal Warriors would like to repeat their earlier performance against the Fortune Giants where they had won by just 3 points.

Bengal Warriors Preview

A forced break would have given the Bengal Warriors time to recover and rethink. They have had a mixed season but as they seem to have found the formula for success as the tournament enters its business end. They hammered the Pink Panthers in their last game and are placed 6th in the points table after 14 games. This may not be a comfortable position, but the Warriors will look forward to win all their remaining games.

King Maninder Singh has been the backbone of the Warriors. He has had his share of injuries last season, but he looks in awesome shape this season. He has not had any major breakdowns and that is a blessing in disguise for the Warriors.

They had a tough game against the UP Yodha where Maninder scored 19 points but they still lost the match. Maninder has earned 178 raid points from 135 successful raids which also includes 11 Super 10’s. He is in terrific form in this tournament.

The major concern for the Warriors was their defense. They don’t have any defender in the top 10 this time. They have been able to execute just 110 successful tackles in 14 games while a top team like Bengaluru Bulls has 147 successful tackles in 16 games.

While the Bengal Warriors have earned 296 raid points, they have conceded 489 points in 14 games. But the introduction of defenders Vishal Mane and left corner Ran Singh have changed their fortunes and they will need it against the Fortune Giants.

Gujarat Giants Preview

One of the most colourful and effervescent team in the PKL started the season with a victory over Jaipur Pink Panthers. They play naturally, aggressively and believe in controlling the pace of the game. But then they could not win games with this strategy and find themselves at the 11th spot in the points table after 13 games with just 4 victories. But they are brave hearts and they made a comeback of sorts as they beat Haryana Steelers in their last game. They will take on the defending champions within 24 hours of this victory and will be a tough game for the Fortune Giants.

In the initial part of the tournament, raiders Rakesh Narwal, Rakesh and Mahendra Rajput were the frontline raiders, but post the Covid break, young Pradeep Kumar has emerged as the saviour for the Fortune Giants. He along with veteran Ajay scored 21 raid points out of 32 team points. This is the spike that the Fortune Giants have been searching for.

Defender Parvesh Bhaiswal has been off colour but he has executed 6 Super tackles which the highest this season. The Fortune Giants have the lowest successful raid percentage among all the teams and their successful team tackles are also the lowest among all teams. Hawk Ravinder Pahal is back on the mat. He along with left corner Girish Ernak will have to weave a supremely inspirational performance so as to motivate others to win all their remaining games.

They have made a grand comeback with their win over the Steelers, but they take on the defending champions Bengal Warriors within 24 hours of this triumph. This will be their greatest challenge.

The Fortune Giants will consider themselves lucky enough to be back on the mat after their encounter with Covid. The break gave them time to circumspect and plan for a comeback. They did so against the Steelers and within 24 hours of that victory they will face the Bengal Warriors. Their defense will be the key to success. All eyes will be on raider Pradeep Kumar as he raided with caution and aggression in the last match. The Bengal Warriors will be heavily dependent on Maninder for a good harvest. Their defense seems to have got back into rhythm with Ran Singh, Vishal Mane and Nabibaksh hunting in a pack.

After a spirited performance in their last game, the Fortune Giants will look forward for another upset, but it may be a too much to ask for within 24 hours.

Bengal Warriors will win.
